I've set these South African cube cakes to fruit 4 days ago. humidity: 90-94% temp: 70-74 F
i'm getting what likes like cotton like fuzz growing around the cakes Are we on track here or is this grow derailing? Good or bad sign?

That picture isn't helpful at all... Send a close-up picture of the cake with natural light for more help.

Sounds like Aerial mycelium, perfectly normal. If it becomes excessive outs due to stale air. Just fan more...

As DynGBreeD said, Make sure you have good FAE, this is completely normal for this time in the growth cycle.

I don't open the fruiting chamber in order not to have the humidity drop.

Yes, there should be (FAE) fresh air exchange.. This means that the air in your chamber should fully change multiple times a day. Open it up, give it some air but keep the humidity stable.

Actually air flow or fresh air exchange through the damp perlite is what creates the desired humidity. Your humidity shouldn't drop much or for long.

Your humidity is too high. You'll see mycellium growing on the stocks of the fruit body's.

Yes humidity can be to high causing mycellium "fuzz" on the stock of the mushrooms and those fluff balls OP was talking about.
Also with the high humidity you'llneedmore FAE

DynGBreeD, bro you just gave me an idea for a new Fruiting chamber.
Same plastic container No holes at the bottom place a air-stone discs that are used from aquariums place 3-4 inches of wet perlite fill the bottom with water till it covers the air stone
the air stone will push wet air though the wet perlite layer
I think that should give perfect humidity ... what do you think???
inquiring minds wanna know :-))

Most cultivators would most likely suggest you avoid standing water in your fruiting chamber...
So I would say no to that design.
