Habitat:
Found in front lawn. Only the caps showed up in the ground.

Gills:
White and there are a lot of grills.

Stem:
White, with a faded brown spot in the middle. this may be where I picked them. The stem itself is very thick.

Cap:
White with an orange crater in the middle, the actual cap curves down and under.

Spore print color:
Couldn't get one, the cap is over the grills.

Other information:
They smell strongly like mushrooms, no sour or rotten smell.

Lactarius sp.  Maybe something close to L. torminosus, but the color seems awfully orange for that.

This is likely to be one of the acrid (peppery), poisonous Lactarius sp.

It's a shame the shots don't show colour better but I would guess L. pubescens.

I'd call it a bearded Lactarius growing with birch.
