Fruiting On Agar Photo Thread * 2
    #18870559 - 09/21/13 01:54 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

ofcourse it's a rip-off from the  ''Random edible grow photo thread'' , but instead being characterised by awesomeness, like the before mentioned thread is, this one would be characterized by cuteness. :smilingpuppy:

Well, this thread didn't deserve to die without a single reply!
Maybe it's because you used the "C" word.

Now, that said, I think these babies ARE quite cute.

Not technically on agar but rather LC. Ganoderma resinaceum.

Nothing that exciting - Agrocybe aegerita seems hard to stop fruiting on agar if exposed to any light:

Bluemeanie, I'd be excited if I had  A. aergerita fruit on agar, I've played with it a couple of times and it didn't fruit on agar.

It seems letting the agar dry out completely helps

edit: found them on my phone!  haven't synced it in the last year so I went thru 600 photos.

brat, not the crazy

this enoki is huge though, it had grown around the entire plate under the parafilm!  I killed the culture though, anyone got dat gold enoki?  I was a big fan of the color.

I'm mighty proud of whatever this is.  I think maybe an oyster.  It's my first contaminant on agar that's a different mushroom!  It was a chicken of the woods clone that got over run by a spore(s) I guess.  They seem to be co-existing.  There's a chance it's dryad's saddle since I was cloning them both in the same run of plates.  I just see gills not pores.

Anyone seen reishi fruit off agar?  What about maitake?

I've seen reishi do it when I had the agar in one of those little tupperware things so it had lots of headspace.  Little antler crawled all the way up the side!  Don't have a pic though :frown:

sort of forgot about this little Jar of agar. These little Agrocybe aegerita seem pretty eager to grow. Hopefully they are that keen when I get some grain into sawdust in a few days

Nice ones tinkid and Stromrider!

yeah, i think the top three species that are hard to keep from fruiting off of agar are:
- Lions mane
- pink oyster
- enoki (all my golden enoki slants had mushrooms forming between the parafilm...)

Definitely agree with the LM and the pinks, almost need to weigh down my stacks to keep them from crawling out of the dishes.
