I got Freestone Texas was very sterile
injected spawn bag with 2.5 cc
kept temp 68-85 (usually 75-82) poor lighting _____________________________________
I did not refrigerate my syringe ond put a cap on black particles are floating in there
should I inject the Orissa now that it looks like I may have had a dud? should I just start injecting everything growbags too now that the spawn may be a failure?

It isn't recommended to try to re-inoculate the same bag/jar more than once. After three weeks it is likely your grains are drying out. If you're going to do nothing but throw the bag away anyways, I guess it can't hurt, but it is usually just a waste of spores. Hopefully you have more grain/bags to try again.

If you insist . Although Psilly will see this and say no ( ), colonization can take 3+ weeks to start.

That looks a lot different than what I have in my jars.. I'm a first timer right now (wish me luck) so I don't have much to compare it to, but it'd be awesome if your bag recovers!

Thank you KatuXiK
Welcome to Teh Shroomery! Your first post outside your thread on my thread! I hope that this symbolic gesture will lead to us being BFFs Best Fungal Friends
I do not know enough about the appearance of early colonization but I think I have Mycelium or possible bacteria
Also the picture makes the bag somewhat more wet than it is IMO

Maybe BFF's we shall be, time will tell!
And when I noticed the very first mycelium in my jars, it was more of a small foggy spot and it was not immediately obvious whether it was wet BRF, or something actually growing. I'll see if I can get a picture of one that might be starting up now, although 3 of my jars have been dormant for almost 13 days now, while the other 5 have been growing, so I'm really hoping their little foggy spots are mycelium.

Even if it was well sterilised and you had worked cleanly, your grain won´t be sterile anymore after 3 weeks. one single bacterium is enough, the bubbly spots even indicate something like yeast. Lots of litte creatures producing their own toxins to keep all other organisms (like mushrooms) away. This grain is not edible anyomre for any higher organism, even if you sterilise again and use a healthy LC, a mushroom will have difficulties to cope with the bacterial toxins.
BTW: moisture makes it easier for bacteria, but if they multiply in there anyway, they may also produce thos moist spots by themselves

It's a sign that you don't have a contamination that produces an odor.

Your grains are too wet and I don't see anything that looks like mycelium.
On a side note, I tried bags a few times and did poorly. The moisture was hard to get right. I went back to jars...much easier.

i agree with Spitballjedi. I have tried bags several times because I thought it would be lower maintenance, but they were always very quick to contam or were just plain duds. Not really sure why. Btw, I tried it with both rye and WBS, same result.
