Fell in love on Facebook, well sort of... 1

I lost my job and decided this was just the impetus I needed to sell my house and move since I had been toying with the idea for a couple of years. There were a few states I considered and eliminated, i.e., CA [too freaking expensive], CO [a better option as I had lived there for many years a while back and loved it] and WA state a place I had never even been to.
I thought of a friend from my distant past who I believed might be living in WA. First I searched the internet and found info about he and his wife living in another state as well as in WA. I was prepared and okay with simply contacting him to see what he thought about WA. I had no idea where he was, how his wife and he were doing or anything at all really. I liked the idea of at least knowing someone in my new home state and he and I have history going back decades so I trusted him.
I then looked him up on FB and there he was! I sent a friend request which he accepted and we have been either communicating via FB PMs, e-mail and in the last couple of months by phone daily, sometimes several times a day.
It turns out he is a widower and has been alone for several years. I am divorced and without a significant other in my life for a long long time either. We had both given up on love.
But then we started talking and reconnected almost instantly. As soon as I heard his voice, I smiled and felt a warm glow. He sounded exactly as I remembered him those many years ago. We talked for hours, laughed, got caught up on eachother's lives and became very close again.
We had always been great friends. I first met him when I was only 15, emotionally very young, naïve and inexperienced. He was a wonderful friend. I could talk to him, I trusted him and put a lot of weight in whatever he said. I respected him. Looking back I had never been that close to a man before then or since.
There we were weaving in and out of one another's lives for over a decade, maintaining this close friendship but never ever going further as far as sexual intimacy. I had my boyfriends and he had his girlfriends and that was fine. We saw one another for the last time (until now) when I was 27. He bent down to give me a friendly kiss good bye and the next thing I knew we were in a lip lock, tongues, clashing teeth, the whole 9 yards. I was newly married and going off to Germany and a little shocked. He then said, I love you, I've always loved you." I think I stuttered good bye and drove off. That was the last time I spoke to or had any contact with him until recently.
Fast forward to now and after we had reconnected on FB. I am getting my house ready to sell, talking to my friend daily and discovering how amazingly our lives have paralleled each other's over these many years. And now we have very similar tastes in music, food, and a ton of the same interests.
Then I finally got an offer on my house and immediately made a plane reservation to WA. Our reunion was pretty intense to say the least. I spent at least a little bit of time house hunting but other than that, hung out with my friend getting very close. I wasn't able to find anything to buy but have rented an apartment near to him.
We are in love and looking forward to getting to re-know one another. Oh yes, I am in my fifties and he is six years older than me so my advice is, never give up hope!!

Amazing story... Sounds like it was meant to be.
My only question is why is this in Anon? I kept waiting for the twist and it just never came..

Why anonymous? Good question. I was thinking about maintaining his anonymity this way, I guess.

first i thought you were a guy, then i thought you were a gay guy, then i was pretty sure you were a woman, then it was confirmed you are a woman. if you just state the fact that you are a woman in the first sentence it would be easier on the reader.
other than that, congrats on finding love! all the best.

I thought for sure the OP was male. Don't know why.
I read this as a gay old man love story, now I'm disappointed.
