Can somebody confirm this is agaricus? ID request
    #18868545 - 09/20/13 04:37 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Habitat:
Found in short grass during rain, close to a footpath.

Gills:
The gills were pinkish when I found it but browned off by the time I got home.

Stem:
The stem was short and fat, about 1 1/2 inches tall and almost an inch wide. There was no bruising and the mushroom came easily from the ground when I picked it. Some of the veil from the cap was still attached, covering the gills in places.

Cap:
Cap is 2 1/2 inches wide and is white. Classic mushroom shape, just a bit bigger.

Spore print color:
This spore print is a rusty brown.

Bruising:
This mushroom has not shown signs of bruising.

Other information:
Smells good

Sorry in advance for crappy pictures, my phone camera has no auto focus.

(Sorry for dirty pots, was in the kitchen)

I thought this mushroom could be either a type of agaricus or aminita, but I could be completely wrong, any help would be nice.

Thanks, Charles.

Looks like an Agaricus. notice any yellow staining when you cut them in half? do they smell super sweet? if not they're good to eat.

Agaricus is a varied genus.

check for smell:
mushroomy is okay
anise is okay
almondy is okay
no odor is okay
chemically is bad.

The chemical smell may not show until you are cooking them.

Also, not everyone can tolerate "okay" mushrooms.  Tread lightly the first time.

I'll eat half and see how it goes then. No chemical smell, smells mushroomy!
