Habitat: Yesterday i thanked all those who have helped me i.d. mushies on this forum, today i found these babies. i live on crowleys ridge in n.e.arkansas, and these were found in a heavy mixed forest.
the first was on an oak log over a some times dry creek bed. Smell like some sort of sea food. they were wet when picked, and there seems to be some yellowish fluid or staining. the smell was very destinctive. gotta be oysters,

the second is huge, weighs alot, and was growing out of the ground near the base of an oak. i'm guessing some sort of laetiporus

NICE finds! Wait for a TI before consuming Im not a TI but IMO (please dont be mad for me guessing TIs) is that the oysters look just lke the ones I had positively IDed on here before. They taste great (of thats what they are)! The second one looks like an aged polyporus squasmosis? the squasmosis if thats what it is are edible when younger but just the outer edges

I think I have some of this growing on my contaminated spawn logs. I dunno, there are a bunch of things growing on those logs instead of the tasty ones... my logs are in a bad spot, need to find a better location... too much other compost action where they're at.
