BRF jars doubt

Hey second time grow planning on going from some BRF jars into a few coir monotub probably using Damion5050's Coir Tek but i'll worry about that when the time comes. Just wondering, the other day i had to fill up three jars with the standard BRF mix (2:1:1) and then thought if it might be a problem that i was going to boil/sterilize a few days later, and then inoculate, maybe contams will show up in the meantime? I'm planning on doing about 12 jars total and they're just over half a pint by the looks of it. Any advice is welcome.

I say better safe than sorry. They would probably be ok but I think it is always better to steam right after mixing and filling. It would be incredibly cheap and easy to just re do them so why not

Don't do this. Sterilization is rarely perfect, so don't increase the contaminant load unnecessarily. Fill the jars and then load and sterilize. RR

Great going to do the whole process tonight, from some great Z-strain print i got sent to inoculation. Another doubt, watched RR's videos for PF-tek but i'm lacking 20 extra jar lids to put at the bottom of the pan, sensible alternatives? Maybe a layer of rocks, tin foil, repeat?

Yeah rocks or gravel will work. Foil balls will work as well.

Okay se here's the update! Ended up inoculating 8 BRF jars due to lack of more spores (i had 2 good and another shitty spore print, shouldn't i have been able to make more than 5 syringes). Out of those 8 5 got contams, one didn't respond and got two successfull jars so i have to look into my sterile technique. Anyway with those two i crumbled them and spawned to Coir/Verm mix using Damion's Elementary Tek. I Just put the trays into fruiting conditions in two boxed with a gauze to act as an air filter. Looking like a pretty healthy mycelium which colonized quickly. If i get some good quality pictures i much do a follow-up post with timing and some pinning porn.

8 jars inoculated from 5 syringes?? were they 10cc? you could have done at least 25 jars with that. I usually put 1/2 an ML in each hole. The less you put in, the less contamination you will have. Along with proper sterilization and aseptic technique.

Yeah 8 jars did feel like waaay too little but i knew no better plus i had no internet to check. 0.5mL and you get successful inoculations all the time? I put around 2.5ml in each hole hahaha i still have a 'few' details to polish. Could you give me and idea of the consistency of the syringe? like does it look completely clear or can you see spores? I had one Ecuador syringe which looked almost clear and would not have been comfortable adding even 1ml

they say you only need 1 ML per jar. So thats 0.25 ML per hole. Just make sure you shake up the syringe really hard. theres millions of spores in there. You will have spores in every squirt.

Spore prints are not sterile so to cut down on the number of contams that pop up we use as little solution as possible. You could probably get away with a few drops per hole. Next time you will do better, you got the Shroomery on yer side now
