Reason? I will look it up.
Been having fruity loops for years. I would like to try other software. I have a HUGE library full of sounds I like in fruity loops though. the plugins for DnB are sick

Fruity Loops is fine. i used it too, before. i'm still using it for chopping samples, it's got the most comprehensive file switching; i can use anything from MP3 format, and i don't have to do any converting myself, for using samples in it.
it's definitely got it's ups to keep it, if you're getting this shit from torrents.

I've used both Ableton and Reason a lot, and Ableton is far more complex are as long as you have some good vst's you'll be able to produce far better on it compared to Reason. Reason has great stock synths and instruments, but is lacking in sampling capabilities, and I find it difficult to master my tracks in it.

i find it easy enough to master my tracks, but that's why i moved on to Native Instruments. seems to have more features, better mastering tools, and great for sampling.
Ableton is great for certain things like live recordings and such, really good for that... it's just something i don't do much yet. besides, my Maschine from NI is great for live recording too.

How about picking up a guitar, keyboard, bass or even drum set? Or fucking any real instrument besides this electronic bullshit that is relentlessly floating into the music field.
I'm sorry, as a musician I am very ill-posed towards this whole electronic thing.
Disregard my post, it's straight rant.
But take into consideration of what these electronic notes really are. Fuck you, electricity.

i agree that having the instruments would serve on well.
i plan on getting a sax and bass soon, and fixing up my drum set, getting a new foot pedal and some new skins from my bass drum and toms.

I think you will definitely enjoy the sax. I learned music in general when I was young and playing alto sax. I play guitar now, but it clicked when I was a young kiddo with a shiny horn.

I'm a guitarist as well. But I like my beats.
Piano doesn't seem hard to learn, as long as I remember the steps for the scale on every note. I mess around on the piano on my ipad...whole, whole, half, whole whole whole, half.
Or jazz major third scale... freaken love that sound. It's so beautiful. Coming up with melodies is so

I find it kinda funny that electronic music gets bashed by other ("real")musicians Are we somewhat lesser musicians, because we make electronic music? Many of us have musical backgrounds you know?
Besides, most electronic musicians(including myself) do everything themselves, such as;
Instrument tracks, editing, arranging, mixing and sometimes even mastering(I wouldn't necessarily want to master my own tracks, but it's been done). Would be nice if at least that aspect of being an electronic musician was appreciated, it's a huge fucking PITA to make the whole package sound sweet&tight, when you have 10 layers of LFO fx playing on top of a K/B loop+drums+percs+leads
The most important tools in music making have always been&will always be used in both acoustic and electronic music.
Imagination, heart(passion), brain&soul. Without that stuff there would be no music whatsoever IDK, I can't really play anything other than my computer, but I'm fine with it. Someday I'll learn how to play piano

you know, i bet alot of those people would be crying for someone to produce, mix and master their tracks when it actually comes to making a professional sounding recording.
most musicians, sadly, forget how important Sound Engineers and Producers are. just flat out.

Uhh first of all, 10 tracks is not much at all. I'm in a recording group with a good friend that took sound engineering down in AZ. We use guitar/bass/drums and keyboard (you know.. instruments that actually use your fingers) and push near the 25 track with a synthesized song.
Yeah the kid who sits in his room with an acoustic all day thinking he's a great musician is a complete stereotype and don't think the fact that you know any sound engineering puts you on a grand plateau.
Take loops out of the equation and I bet the rhythm would kick your ass. This imagination heart and soul bullshit is an easy way out of an argument considering that is only a small chunk of writing music.

Also, if any musician is not a flat out moron then they do know the importance of engineering. This aside, engineering is an extremely easy level to reach and a competent musician can easily learn to master everything they do on their own. For example, buy pro-tools and read up on the internet.. you will be mastering on a professional level in no time if you are dedicated.

true, but trust me, i see plenty of people rave about how electronic music sucks, and then ignorantly and passionately accuse producers of not being musicians, and because of that they "don't count" as being important.
seriously. i see this, like, alot. you're one of the good ones.

Sorry dude but you're the one on a "plateau" here with your "actual instruments&10tracks is nothing" bullshit

Don't bother using reason. Start with fl studio and download some bomb vst's and learn synthesis. You can torrent just about all the amazing internal sythesizers on kat.ph. Making music takes alot of time and effort if you just want to mess around with the idea then use the defualt vst's in fl.
