Wtf is going on with my pins?
    #18866764 - 09/20/13 09:09 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Four PE trays that were flipped out of the trays and upside down because the top had more of the verm/coco mix and was colonizing more slowly. I spawned 1 quart sized jar of fully colonized rye grain to each tray a little over a week ago and put into my fruiting chamber. Humidity could be better but I have been misting them 3-4 times a day to help with that. FAE should be good at least which is more important to me because I don't want a contam! So what the hell is up with my pins? I've read that PE can have a unique first flush.

Can we get a better well lit picture?

Misting them 3 to 4 times a day huh? There's your problem. Don't mist them directly. You may just be stalling them or not being patient enough. Start misting the sides of your FC and give it another week or so. Humidity and FAE are two different things by the way. Can't mist for good FAE.

What kind of FC is that anyways? Seems to need allot of tweaking.

I mist from a couple feet above them not directly. I realize that they aren't plants. They look visibly dry which I was considering dunking them but decided I should wait until after the first flush.

Ya it could be better. It's a little late for that. FAE shouldn't be a problem because the humidifier has a fan that is constantly blowing the air inside the fc.

That's rad dude.
I can barely read that meter but humidity should be 80% - 95% with good FAE as well. Look into adding an ultrasonic fogger to your setup. Also, you should wait it out. Patience is key.

Check out my mini-GH setup. Looks like you got most of the equipment already.

Those blocks are dry...and the mycelium is very splotchy. Probably a bacterial issue to my eyes. Or it just dried out too fast.

Thanks for the FC link. Looks like I will be modifying mine.

What's your opinion on dunking them? I'm not ruling out a bacterial issue but they are dry.

Should I just be wait the first flush out and dunk after that?

How would bacteria effect my fruits? If that is the issue.

Did you wait for the trays to fully colonize before you introduced fruiting?

I screwed up because I layered my coco/verm mix below and above my fully colonized quart sized rye jar that I crumbled in the middle so it was sandwiched between the sterylized coco/verm.

I used a old tek which said to fruit them as soon as the myc broke through the top layer of coco/verm.

So I did that. Fruited them in trays which you can see in the FC pic. I decided to flip them upside down out of the trays because the bottom seemed to be colonizing much quicker.

I'm just gonna wait it out have patience and see what happens. Will update in a couple days

Well there's your problem, the substrate wasn't fully colonized before you introduced fruiting the result is most likely that the mycelium needs to colonize the remaining substrate and then you'll see some pinns......holding thumbs
