You can mist to compensate for slightly low RH.
Hard to make up for lack of FAE though.
Hey skinty, do an experiment for me: mist the walls heavily, so there is water dripping down all sides.
Take a pic in 24 hours and show me how the walls look.
Is the point of this to see if the walls dry back out by tomorrow which would tell you he is getting too much FAE?
Also is it really dry where you live skinty because when I did my first tub I still had cakes going in a sgfc and my dumbass was running a dehydrator almost daily in the same room as my tub and it really dried my tub out?

Basically, yes. Note that "too much FAE" is really only possible when the FAE is directly tied to the RH like it is in a monotub.

Run a humidifier in the room and don't let the air currents affect the SGFC.

Well I'm not running a sgfc anymore and I know better than to run the dehydrator in the same room as my tub now. Lesson learned and applied

You know what? My mono is doing the same thing...mist the walls heavily, wait 24 hours...and it's totally dry again....should I tape up one or two of the 4 top holes I have?

Tape 2 of the top holes. You need 4 holes at the sub level packed tightly with polyfill and 2 upper holes stuffed loosely with polyfill. Your walls should not dry out if it is dialed in properly.

Have not taken a pic but walls mainly dried out...a few water droplets left and some condensation on lid. Surface still looks very "dewy". Looks like the thing is about to explode with pins though
I think at this stage with this being my first big mono I'm gonna leave it be, see what happens with these pins and learn from my mistakes

Sounds like a plan.
I would adjust your fan so there is not so much breeze blowing directly around / on the tub.
If it is exploding with pins though, you are doing something right.

Yeh I'm not too worried for now...I've adjusted the fan also I picked up on psilly's point about dehydrator cos I'm running one in the same room... such a hard room to get the set up right - too many variables
I will hopefully post a pinset pic in next couple of days...LOOKS like it's gonna explode but let's see ey!

You are running a dehydrator in the same room? That's what is causing your tub to dry out. If you have a humidifier run it in there if you want and don't ever run a dehydrator in the same room as a monotub. Actually when i run my dehydrator on the other end of the house I make sure to run the humidifier in the room with the monotub just to make sure

You know what I turned the fucking thing off (as I have no wet shrooms to dry ) a few hours ago and there is visibly growing condensation over the last few hours
Thing is I have nowhere else in this house to do anything - the SGFC, mono, fan and dehydrator in same room
If I ran the dehydrator in my friends room he would eat all the produce! I ain't kidding I love him but he's an animal!

OH and btw - I know it's useful to know what type of mushroom is being grown. Apparently this species of cubensis is "Mongolian mind rape". It colonises 32% faster than the next fastest which is Serbian sodomizer but is 23.4% less potent than Siberian shaft monkey

That's all good to know but seriously you may be able to get by with running a dehydrator in the same room if you also ran a humidifier at the same time. Idk

Well here's how the surface is looking at present...decentish pin set - not many pins in those thicker whiter areas of myc in corners and mainly pinning in centre... dunno why the myc looks different in the corner - pretty sure it's not trich...

Yup looks ok I reckon...pretty pleased so far tbh. Tempting to keep messing with the polyfill as no idea how well dialled it is but I'm just leaving it be now and gonna see what happens

Looks great.
It's fluffy in the corners because that's where it is drying out the fastest. Totally normal. Give it a misting and it will look like the rest again.

You don't need to mist it at all before the first flush.
If you do decide to, just mist the whole tub. A little mist every couple of days never hurt anything in a tub IME.

Cool. I'll leave it be then...something I've definitely learnt about this hobby is it generally not helpful to keep fussing over things
However I will no doubt fuss over a few *update* pics at an appropriate time
