Are polyfill lids still considered to be reliable?

I'm referring to something like this. I'm currently using a felt based filter and have reason to believe that's what's causing my contamination issues so I'm doing something else. I know the best option is SFD's, which I'm going to order, but I'd like to try something in the mean time as I don't want to wait and spawn is cheap.
I was going to use micropore tape as that's what I've used in the past, but after doing some searching I've read that's not particularly reliable either. I've also come across people saying polyfill as well are not reliable, but... you gotta use something and I know everyone out there isn't using SFD's, so what's the general opinion? Tyvek isn't really an option since I'd have to order it and I might as well go with SFD's if ordering something (plus likewise in searching it seems polyfill is more reliable than tyvek).

Yes. Extremely tight polyfil has always been and will always be an effective contamination barrier. It has more room for human error, but if you do it right, it will be fine. Plus you can inject spores straight through it.

Polyfill will work, yes. I prefer tyvek just cause it's free from the postal service. Using proper sterile techniques and pressure cooking I've yet to have any problems with it.

Yep polyfil will work just fine. I stopped using it though and started using EZ felt (stiffened) with great results.

That's what I was using, not the ez felt brand, but some other stiff felt. I had been getting trich contamination in as many as 4 out of 5 bins after spawning though and though I'm not sure what the source is my current best guess is it's coming from my jars.
The jars always look and smell like fresh mushrooms, and nothing else, however recently I sterilized some water using one of those lids in the pressure cooker and after about a week I noticed lots of growth in the jar. The only real explanation is that the felt GE port was letting in contaminants.

Tape imo sucks. Because you tape up after wards. Self sealing injection port is were it is at.

Did you use a single layer? I've always doubled up because I didn't trust the fact that I could see through parts of a single layer. Not sure how the felt you were getting is though.

Poly is all I use. Make sure it's tight as all hell though.
