living in the everyday
    #1886579 - 09/05/03 10:07 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

I was chatting with a friend of mine and he was so miserable. I couldn't cheer him up despite my best efforts. he then asked me a great question,
"with all the shit you've seen and experienced how can you still remain happy everyday?"

Only now as I am typing this do I realize the importance of this question. The way I see it now, my reply would be, "sure I've seen a lot and experienced a lot, but as bad as the shit that has happened to me, there are others who have been through and are going through a lot worse." I mean I have a computer for crying out loud! so I feel that I an very lucky in that I also have shelter and food covered.

my question to you guys is how would you respond to a question like this? how many of us nearly everyday breath in the air and enjoy it? is life a gift to you or do you see it another way?

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.---senior doobie

I'd get philosophikal on his ass and would try to make the guy think.

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

I have asked that exact same question, and stumped many people. I NOW see the gift of life, the meaning is in what you do with it, and what you do with it, is what make's it so great.

How do i remain happy everyday? I dont FOCUS myself on the negative, I WANT to be happy, because its a more fulfilling life than being miserable and negative. Been there, and done that, and its no good. I WANT to be happy, so i LOOK for a reason to be happy, and AVOID the reasons to be upset.

i remain happy by keeping a positive mind, somedays its much harder than others. yes, i try to look at each day as a blessing, and doing my best now in this moment (no matter what im doing) is all that really matters. everybody is capable of obtaining happiness, but the matter of going on, or taking action to obtain it, is in question. i myself enjoy simple things...like outside right now its drizzling...i like light rain, it gives me such a sense of calmess and tranquility. i enjoy walking in the rain...so im out for a walk, peace

if you can't find the truth right where you are, where else do you expect to find it?

this is the purpose

I can still remain happy because I see others struggling along with me and we shouldn't let eachother down or make it harder on eachother than it already is

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

It is all about your state of your mind and your thoughts..

If I should die this very moment
I wouldn't fear
For I've never known completeness
Like being here
Wrapped in the warmth of you
Loving every breath of you

Yeah, the tricky part about this kinda thing is that there
doesn't seem to be any correct answers. The way I see it is that everybody has to browse through their own mind and find their lifeforce in there. It's a weird little process that can be aided, but not forced. Looks to me as if some people
just are somehow unable to enjoy life. Maybe you should turn the question back
to your friend.

"Who are you?"
