Found some Armillaria. Safe to eat?
    #18863545 - 09/19/13 03:40 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Take a close look at the last photo. You can see where a snake was slithering between the cluster during it's shed.

I didnt spore print any of these, but I did find some older clusters that were sporulating. The color is white

Seems like Armillaria tabescens

...which are good to eat but must be cooked thoroughly and it would be a good idea to try a small cooked portion first.

Thanks guys!

I may hold off on eating these. Im feeling a little under the weather and certainly don't want to risk feeling worse. Fuckin cold/flu...

I found a few oysters today too, but didnt really feel like messing with then either. They arent my choice edible. But, I did manage to take some shitty pics

Without evidence of a partial veil and no noticeable ring zone, along with clearly decurrent gills, the mentioning of white spore deposits and overall appearance...I'd say Hypholoma fasciculare would be very unlikely.

DCart, you could do a spore print just to be safe, but if you're not going to eat them anyways...

as simple as there are no purple brown spores on the stipe or gills. You would see.

I had some tabescens the other week...pretty good I guess. Only ate a few cause I read a lot of varying reports about upset stomach...I think I just let that get into my head and ended up not eating the rest...wanna try them in soup tho...heard it was good.

I ended up spore printing them - on accident: smokey white.

I decided not to eat them, though.

I feel ya. When I see them swarming the oysters, it ruins my appetite for them. Its ok I guess, oysters aren't my first choice for edibles.
