Hi there and welcome to the shroomery.

Yes it is Laetiporus species, Chicken of the woods.
It will be good tommarow but dont wait more than 4-5 days they grow very fast.

Also, you put this into a thread thats over 7 years old. Next time make your own ID request thread instead of bumping up ancient ones :thumbup:

These are great by the way and one of my favorite edibles, but some people report negative reactions from them. So i would start out with a small sample to see how they effect your first.

yeah and most likely just the tips will be tender enough to eat.

Thanks for the tip and quick response, I'm not forum-savvy so I do apologize for my posting faux pas...I'll be out early to collect it and give it a try...small sample first!

As an avid trail runner here in New England, I always see incredible mushrooms in places most people don't get to, and I love mushrooms, so this is a great bonus for me (although now I'll need to bring along something to put them in...), so thanks again!

So don't wrench the whole thing off, trim off the tender parts, so it can continue to fruit.  If you can pinch thru, it's tender.

Is there any poisonous mushroom that can be mistaken for chicken of the woods? Because if not I'm gonna grab it. thx in advance.
