I would like to find a strain of sporeless oysters. Does anyone know where I can buy this? It must be sporeless.
TIA

I highly doubt that exists. It would probably have to be genetically modified.

You are wrong it does exist. Here is the infolink.
I have heard from some people on the boards here that spore depots oyster they offer is sporeless, though I haven't grown their oyster strain myself so I am not certain.

i have a mushroomcultivator near by who grows oysters, shiitake and lions mane, they sell the mushrooms at the farms and sometimes the blocks. i asked them about if they had trouble with inhaling the spores and they said they have sporeless strains. they order they're blocks from a big german company. i'm planning to clone one in the next month so i can grow oysters indoors in the winter without having to worry about the spores. i did before and fruited it on straw, but didn't check wether it really didn't release spores.

Really? Not the pearl strain!

no, i don't know, but i can ask them when i go there (i think next week). else maybe i can send you a wedge, but it would be older mycelium than if you could order from the company themselves.

I doubt there is a truly "sporeless" oyster mushroom that's not a rare mutant by chance.
But maybe they were able to isolate a strain that produces less than usual.

Sylvan Inc. has several strains of sporeless oysters available in Europe but have not been able to get them licenced or patented in North America as of my last communication with them early in the year.

Hi Judydel: The person at Sylvan Inc. that I was corresponding with was James S. Miller, VP Sales & Marketing. Also, check out this link for a patented sporeless oyster variety named Spoppo.
Mushroom variety named ‘Spoppo’ US PP18037 P3
Abstract
‘Spoppo’ is a new variety of oyster mushroom that produces no spores and has well-developed fleshy caps.

Let me know if you get one. M&M
