Help...Some pics and questions

My friend wants me to post some pics of things that are concerning him. Please forgive me if things aren't perfect, this is my first time posting pics. So here are some questions. Mostly things look good (no bad smells, cakes are white except for one spot)...But: 1) My friend says this blue spot was originally a patch of light greyish blue fuzz and, before that, it looked like normal, healthy myc. The only thing that changed was its color. It looks like this now because he tried the Qtip with H202 test. Nothing came off at first and it immediately turned dark blue when the H202 touched it. HOPEFULLY it was just a furry bruise...Watcha think? 2) Some deformed caps? 3) A few shrooms have wounds on the caps. Its not at all dry in there so that couldn't be it....? 4) Some cakes have shrooms with thin black lines running up the stems...? 5) A few shrooms have a thick white ring where the veil joins the cap and some of the veils are trying to break away from the stem instead of the cap...? 6) Finally, is it normal to have these white specks on the caps? I know this is alot of imformation to be asking for all at once, but my friend is kinda freakin' out on me. Any info would be very much appreciated.

It all looks ok mainly. The blue is bruising. The veils on the pns look fine. But the deformed caps look a little wet, do you have condensation driping down from the lid?

Thanks so much for answering! No, there is no condensation dripping from the lid. What do you think about the sore on the cap? And those black lines on the stem of the little fatty kinda creep me out.

Dont worrie about spores droping on the cakes or caps, that will always happen. What strain is this btw? and can you pick out the picture with the black lines showing and post it on its own?
Its best to post pictures on a seprate line, not all in a bunch like that, then we can pick through them better. Good pictures though.

I'm sorry, I wasn't talking about spores on caps. I wanted to know how large open wounds occur on the caps (pic #2). They are PES Hawaiian. The black lines are on the stem of the shroom whose cap is still far from opening (pic #4). Its in a cluster with other smaller ones on the left side of the cake.

The large crack in the cap is due to old age and high moisture content in the shroom imo. They look very moist, and this can cause cracking as the are swollen with water.
The black lines alos look fine to me, just a charactoistic of the shroom.
Its all looking pretty good to me, whats the substrate in the base of the fruiting chamber? Lava rock?

That makes me feel alot better. I can relay this to my friend so maybe he can relax a little now . Should he maybe try to lower the rh a bit? He doesn't know what its at right now exactly because he can't find a hygrometer that he can adjust for an accurate reading. He told me that this particular cake had mycelium running down through the lava rocks and into the water. Maybe that's why they had excess moisture...or maybe there just needs to be slightly larger holes in the rubbermaid for ventilation. My friend is using the "poor man's pod" Magash style. 55 gal. rubbermaid, 2 bubble wands, silicone air tubing, air pump, and hyrodoton (couldn't afford more so he filled the top half with lava rocks).

Lava rock works well, i like the way the mycelium colonises it :-) I would mist less for now, and not directly on or over the cakes. The lava rock seems to be doing enougth in its self for humiderty.

My friend doesn't mist at all. The bubble wands beneath the hydroton and lava rocks send bubbles up which pop just beneath and all around the cakes. The popping bubbles surround the cakes with rising fresh humid air. This also eliminates the need for fanning. The fresh air from the air pump is constantly replacing the gas produced by the developing fruits. The only problem is that it seems to work too well. Too much rh...there is a fine balance.

It looks like there is some mycellium growing on the pins, you might want to lower the humidity.

If the air pump is working "too well", like you said, then try turning it off for a period of time daily or if you got some cash to spend buy a timer and time it as needed. looking good though, I love the rhyzomorph looking mycelium. =)

Those pics are very nice. I believe you have no problem at all, those deformities often occur when some petroleum based materials are near or in the grow chamber and/or also spraying h2o2, otherwise it could be genetics. Also, adding to what gldtn said, get a timer.
