Clone Tissue to Grain

So my recent MS grow of a couple mono's turned out with a less than optimal pin set but the pins that did show up all matured to nice beautiful fruits just wish there was more of them
I didn't have any agar plates ready so I just decided to take some tissue samples and drop them inside of some grain jars (wbs)I had that were ready to be knocked up. It's been about a week now maybe a little longer and the grain jars seem to be doing quite well There's actually 6 jars I only took pics of three just so you guys could see. I'll update as this project progresses.

How long did it take to get such large specimens?

Not sure what you mean, how long for the fruits???
5 weeks total
2 weeks in grain jars 2 weeks spawn run 1 week from pin to harvest
Just to be clear the fruits in the pics are from MS only the grain jars in the pics are clones, the clones haven't been grown out yet

I Just did the same, actually. I lieu of not having agar, I took a sterile (as sterile as possible) extraction of the inside of a mushroom and threw it in my rye bag. Its day three and its just now starting to spread.
The mushroom that I cloned was a Golden Teacher that was probably three inches tall (max) and FAT. HUGE ... a genetic freak. It also was the first shroom to grow, and grew to its full size before the other ones were pinning. We'll see if the genetic roll on forward to the next generation ... I hope so, because I'd love to make some liquid syringes!

Awesome keep us updated on your progress, my plan is once all the jars are colonized make grain LC of each (each jar is a different specimen) then grow each LC out and see which one performs the best. I may even put some of LC on agar and do some transfers and try and get some isolates and grow those out a well, something to keep me busy while my other projects are in the works

This is rad I do tissue clone to lc all the time, but have never taken directly to grain. Will be interesting to see the results

Tissue to LC was my initial thought once I realized I didn't have any agar ready or on hand for that matter. After a few quick searches in the search engine I read of a few people having problems with the tissue recovering when dropped straight into LC so I opted to transfer straight to grain, I'm glad to hear the tissue to LC is working for you though I will definitely give it a try next time. Any pics of your tissue LC or fruits from one of the cloned LC??? I'd love to see some results

I'm not sure how you all missed the green mold growing in each jar. I don't think it will end well
The one on the left might be ok, but tissue to grains is a terribly risky practice.

I thought it looked like stipe tissue that was heavily bruised and turning back into myc . Kind of how when you harvest tubs the tiny leftover bit on the substrate can look like contamination.

I see a nice green fuzz on top of the tissue, not a bruised piece of tissue alone. The OP should take a close look and let us know.

I thought it looked like bruised tissue as well. But it still may not end well. clone to grain is high risk.

The blue/green fuzz in the jars is all on the tissue, it's not spreading and it's getting covered in white myc so I'm assuming it's just bruised tissue, I'll try and get a close up of one of the jars in a bit so we all can have a closer look but I'm hoping for the best. Any blue/green mold I've seen in grain jars spreads like wild fire but we'll just have to see.

Yeah I had grain jars prepped (not for this purpose just happened to be extra). In front of my flow hood I tore open the stem and took a tissue sample using a scalpel and tweezers that had been sterilized in my PC prior and transferred to the grain jars. I know this is high risk but I didn't have any agar to make plates and really wanted to clone some of these first flush fatties I tried to work as clean as possible wiping down the entire outside of the jar and work table, hands, etc, etc, with alcohol before making the transfers. If it fails no big deal, lesson learned, always have agar and plates ready ALWAYS when about to harvest.
