Burn the place to the ground! Ok, Mice like food. Clean up any random pizza crusts and check any dry food/cereal/grains for holes, glass jar them if found. The mice will move on to someone else's pizza.

One time I stabbed a mouse with an arrow. Try that, it'll kill it.

Sticky traps or poison bait. The mice where I live are smart enough to get the cheese off of the old school traps. I got a cat though. Boom, no more mice...

Bait it with peanut butter instead of cheese. There's really no getting that off without setting off the trap.

Try peppermint oil, spray that shit along the base boards, cupboards & such or whole cloves, i don't think anything likes that smell but me.
Using sticky traps is much easier, there's no blood or poop squished out their ass. And if you want to be completely humane you could let the stuck fella off w/ olive oil to un-stick em.... Oil works to unstick kids hands as well.

and Barbait will not let them little fuckers stink if you kill them and they run in a wall...it dries them up and no smell that i noticed, they'll usually be out in the middle of the floor looking all kinds of crazy poisoned, if they're not already dead. I lived in the country for a bit. :p
