Any issue with dunking rye grains for too long?

My PC can only fit five 1-pint jars at a time, and I'm hoping to have 10 jars total. Right now I'm soaking 10 pints of grains all together in a pot.
I was thinking I could load 5 pints into jars, PC, and let cool for a few hours, while the remaining grains continue soaking. By the time I get to the remaining grains, it will probably have been close to 28-30 hours soaking. Is that too long? Or is 24 hours just the estimated maximum soak time to still see any benefits?

Soak 4 to 24 hours, but not over, especially if the temperature is warm. You don't want them to ferment or otherwise become rancid despite disinformation you'll read elsewhere. RR

Why don't you do everything at the same time? I know you'll need a couple PC cycles, but get it all in jars and everything while it waits its turn to be sterilized.

Hmmm, I guess my brain has been kind of fried thinking about this because I'm trying to fit this around my work schedule. My plan was to boil + PC the first batch over my lunch break, let it cool while I'm returning to work, then come home after work and boil + PC the second batch.
But rather than letting the second half continue to soak, I think I'll boil the whole batch right now, then PC the first half while the second half waits its turn in jars for a few hours.
Thanks a ton guys!
I have a followup question: Are there potential problems with using half of a syringe to inoculate a few jars, then shelving it for a few hours and using it again later for a few more? I'm not going to be doing this, so it's not imperative that I know, but I am just curious. The reason I'm currently doing all this grain juggling is I thought it would be better to inoculate everything at once and not take that chance. Otherwise I would have done two batches of grains with two separate inoculations and then just birth them all to tubs on the same day.

I left rye grains soaking for a week once (forgot about them)
When I opened the lid I got a real sour smell, mold growing on the surface of the water, and a bunch of germinated grains.
I'll never do that again...

They will most definitely ferment. This is how I make a sour mash for beer albeit with barley rather than rye. It smells terrible when it gets that far along.

RR,
What's your take on fermentation? PC'ing will still sterilize and kill off all badies. So this must be from a nutrient point of view right?
Yeast being a fungus and allowing to consume grain for a couple of days doesn't great for our mushies.
Is that pretty much the idea here?

Think yr getting confused - this is about dunking grains which means they would be fully colonised with myc. Obviously you would not be PCing the jars again

you're right, my bad!
you have to admit that dunking and soaking are pretty much the same thing as far as English is concerned... but I have to admit that they both have very specific connotations in mushroom cultivation
I was late for work this morning but wanted to get the thread up before I left since this was time sensitive

I think "soaking" is used with it's usual connotations in the English language in terms of it's use in cultivation whereas the use of "dunking" is sort of made up - although it makes sense

When the soak is over .. but you're not ready to PC .. drain / dry the grain somewhat, put in a kitchen trash bag and then into the refrigerator. That will buy you a day or two until you're ready to fire the PC up.
