I was one a few different SSRI's and one SNRI.

The brain zaps if I missed doses or went somewhere and forgot or didnt bring enough pills was horrible. I explain it as my brain like shutting down for a bring second and coming back literally in like an electrical flash.

Coming off them took a lot of tapering. And they also affected my sex life. Everything works fine and libido is good, but the orgasm just feels meh. It is a now known ssri related syndrome. can last for years after stopping, its been 5 years for me and they still dont seem like they did.

I'd also get the same effects after heavy doses of mdma, even after I was off the SSRI's.

^^^ Thanks for sharing your input, and especially for being so candid about something somewhat personal.

For anyone dealing with this and the tapering process, www.paxilprogress.com is an excellent resource.

The (Former :frown: ) shroomerite I mentioned did tell me that opiates acutely treated the brain-zaps, but I think it's easy to see how that could so easily end up being a worse road.

This this this, though, is why out of all the wariness I have for conventional psychiatry, antidepressants I think of are the largest concern (with Bipolar being the new ADHD being probably tied for 1st, but I don't want to invoke too much discussion that could derail this thread so I'll shuttup ).
