Hi everybody. I know almost nothing about mushrooms, so please forgive my ignorance!

Today I went for a walk in the woods when a flash of color caught my eye. I ventured off the trail and found several brilliant red-orange mushrooms growing near a creek bed. Their color was so vivid against their dark earthy backdrop that it almost looked like they were glowing.

I found the mushrooms in a heavily wooded area 30 miles north of Atlanta, GA, USA.  They appeared to be growing from the ground, wedged between the edge of the forest and the creek bed. The longest mushroom was approximately 2 inches tall.

I did a quick google image search and the closest match I could find was the Cantharellus cinnabarinus. Your expertise is greatly appreciated. These mushrooms are so cool-looking and I really want to know what they are!
