First Grow log - any comments/tips/good vibes much appreciated

Hey guys, so after lurking this forum and doing some research for the last couple months, I've decided to give it a try and cultivate my own mushrooms.
I'm starting out with 10 jars pf tek. I don't have a pressure cooker, so I steam sterilized the jars for 90 min in a normal pot. As a personal experiment, I covered the inoculation holes with tape for 5 of the jars, and left the other 5 without tape. Instead of making a glove box, I have a closed walk in closet, which I took all my clothes out of and bombed with Lysol before inoculation. Followed all the usual sterilization procedures, lighter, gloves, face mask, etc...
2 and a half days later, I have the first signs of colonization in all 4 inoculation spots in all 10 jars.

I know it's still early on, but I'm pumped that it's going well already.
When it's time to birth, I've already prepared a shotgun terrarium to use.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but unless you were using a liquid culture you shouldnt see that much, if any growth in just 60 hours. Its most likely mold.

On bird seed with multispore and it not turning green soonest I see is 3ish days.
On BRF it was always a week at the minimum.

As long as your LC was clean you'll be good to go, I haven't used LC's but I thought that it required a PC to make it properly without contaminating.

Here's an update 7 days after inoculation. Seems to be colonizing at a pretty good rate. No contamination in any of the 10 jars. There seems to be a noticeable amount of condensation over the thick mycelium areas. From what I've read, this is normal and not something I should be too worried about, right?
BTW, forgot to mention these are golden teachers.

2 weeks in:
4 out of 10 jars are fully colonized. The others aren't far behind - probably a couple more days. I plan to dunk and roll the first four next weekend. Still no contams. One of the jars had a very small trace of metabolites, but that has since gone away.
In the meantime, I wasn't happy with the shotgun terrarium I had already prepared - since I don't have access to a drill, I tried poking all the holes with a box cutter. As you can imagine, it didn't come out to well, so I decided to trash it and make one that will do these cakes justice. This time, I'm using a tapered metal rod, which happens to have a width of exactly 1/4 of an inch at it's widest point. I've been heating this rod over the stove and punching it into the plastic - it sinks right through the side of the box and the sides of the holes come out super clean - no sharp edges or extra plastic hanging on. Yes, it's quite a bit more time consuming than a drill, but it's doing the trick quite well.

I've got tho find jars like that, those look really cool.
OP, I keep my clean clothes in my closet, folded after being freshly washed and dried. It's your laundry and coats that you want to be careful with. I use a tub for my laundry, as my grow site is pretty much the same as yours.

Yeah, good thinking - I've been keeping any dirty clothes, laundry, etc. in a different spot.

If you ever graduate tubs/trays out of your closet, you could likely get away with using it for your clothing, if you could set up a TiT incubator. FrankHorrigan has a pretty good tek I'm gonna be doing later on this month. Just ensure you get an enclosed hamper, and some kind of HEPA in there. I don't know your situation, but in my case, space is important!

So after about 4 days of full colonization, I've noticed a couple small in-vitro pins in 3 of my jars as of tonight. Will dunk and roll these tomorrow. Pics to follow after I birth them!

My invitro pins ended up turning into some monster shrooms. Try n leave em intact when you rinse and dunk.

This morning I birthed my first 3 cakes - they are now resting comfortably on a cozy bed of perlite in their shotgun terrarium. Three more jars just started pinning in-vitro, so I just dunked those this morning and they will join their cousin cakes in the terrarium tomorrow.
I'm growing in a large walk-in closet, which I've been keeping clean. The terrarium is elevated nearly a foot above a table by some beer bottles. I've got a fan positioned at the door of the closet circulating air into it - is this necessary?

Lose the fan. The SGFC is made to use natural air currents and won't hold humidity with the fan around.

3 weeks after inoculation:
And we're pinning!!!!

Right now, 6 of 10 jars are in the SGFC, 3 more are being dunked right now, and one last cake finishing up colonization - there's already a little in-vitro pin but there's a dime-sized bit of substrate still to be colonized on the bottom of the jar. I'll probably dunk it tomorrow.

Those cakes are looking pretty good, I'll definitely be comparing our grows since we're both doing GT and are basically on the same schedule Good luck!

All 10 cakes are now in the SGFC. The last one was added this morning. Here's how we're looking:

I've got at least small pins going on 8 so far. This cake birthed 3 days ago and is furthest along with a fat cluster like this popping out of opposite sides of the cake. Also, I just now noticed a little discoloration toward the top of the cake - you can see it at the top of this picture. Is it a contam or bruising? It's sort of bluish, but I'm sort of paranoid it might be mold.

Can't wait to try my first flush!

My first flush!!!!
So the veils broke on one cake today! As you can see, the mushrooms on the cake had the case of fuzzy feet. Lesson learned for next time - more FAE. I picked 22 grams off this cake. I know they might not be the biggest fruits you've ever seen, but hey, they're my first success and I'm pumped.

This was one especially fuzzy guy. The fuzzy feet are OK to eat right??
I've got a couple cakes not far behind. I'll be increasing my FAE and hopefully the next cakes will have some meatier mushrooms

Those are some healthy looking mushrooms, congrats on the first flush man. You can eat the fuzzy feet, might not be too tasty and likely low in alkaloids, but I'd still eat/share them. This gets me excited for when my cakes start pinning, can't wait

So by now I've completed my first flush on most of the cakes. Each cake yielded about 15-25g, so for the second flush, I've moved the SGFC out of the closet and into the bedroom. Even with lots of fanning, I was still getting FAE issues, so hopefully this helps.
I tried out my own mushrooms for the first time a couple days ago with some friends. I ate them fresh for the first time, which was actually delicious - and I usually hate the taste of mushrooms!
