I've heard brain zaps literally feel like a short electrical shock on your brain and may be slightly painful.
Never heard of them referred to as euphoric brain rushes. Not trying to scare you, you might not even get them.

Yeah I used to get em all the time..
Once had a 40 mg DMT trip where I didn't reallly trip all that hard which was suprising, but it gave me the brain tingles for months to come.
usually happens when I'm doing something intellectually stimulating or am really happy or something similiar

i like them though its like a novel feeling once in a while you know. how long does it take after you go off SSRIs for your brain to adapt? 2 weeks? you feel any different from when you had SSRIs in the system?

I have gotten brain zaps since I was pretty young, on and off, without being on any substances.

This thread title made me go "wtf" because I had some random shit back in undergrad where I had brain zaps and was going crazy trying to figure out wtf it was and wtf to do about it and how the fuck to explain it to someone.
Glad to know they exist outside my head

One night I got really fucking drunk and later that week the zaps (I called them pulses) started, they did not go away till I switched meds.
At first it was cool but after a while I couldn't enjoy any silence without feeling them.
Its been about... maybe three weeks since I felt them. Feels good.

Brain zaps fuckin suck!
It's been a long time....first was when I discontinued Paxil. I would get them 1-2 times every couple days. Lasted for a few weeks.
The other time was when I was periodically taking LSA (in the form of HBWR seeds). Those zaps would usually only occur when I was high on LSA, not really afterwards.

I've heard of Straterra (an SNRI) doing this as well.
crazymeds.us has a lot on this in its forums.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure I also got zaps from Cymbalta (an SSNRI).

I used to get hardcore brain zaps on shrooms. Like INTENSE. When you're tripping balls it's insane.

I can name at least one other Shroomerite who this has happened to.
I'm wary of psychotropics except as PRNs in general (though I do advocate them sometimes, or some of them a lot of times), but this is why I'm especially scared of antidepressants.
Then again, there's benzo withdrawal, antipsychotic brain shrinkage, histaminergic dimentia in the elderly,
and doesn't weed make your dick fall off or something?
No drugs are perfect and we are all different.

I was one a few different SSRI's and one SNRI.
The brain zaps if I missed doses or went somewhere and forgot or didnt bring enough pills was horrible. I explain it as my brain like shutting down for a bring second and coming back literally in like an electrical flash.
Coming off them took a lot of tapering. And they also affected my sex life. Everything works fine and libido is good, but the orgasm just feels meh. It is a now known ssri related syndrome. can last for years after stopping, its been 5 years for me and they still dont seem like they did.
I'd also get the same effects after heavy doses of mdma, even after I was off the SSRI's.
