That jar is disgusting. Sterilize that thing with the eyes before opening the jar.
Looking good though! If you want to close up those holes use duct tape or something non-porous. They will still be getting air exchange if you just use micropore.
I actually fielded another question today about fruiting at 100% vs consolidating. I thought you may be interested in my thoughts on the subject:
Quote:
Here is my theory:
By keeping the colonizing conditions (100% RH and high CO2) when your tub is starting to knot up, you are essentially "tricking" the mycelium into thinking that 100% RH and high CO2 levels are what it has to work with.
When you change this abruptly (at the sight of pins, for example) you are going to be making the conditions less ideal for the pinset that has been produced. That leads to a larger number of aborts.
You can certainly get a larger pinset when you consolidate your tubs. I don't have any doubt.
But I've said it before, a larger pinset is not necessarily a better pinset.
For these reasons, I choose to give it fresh air as soon as it is 100% colonized. By doing this I introduce my mycelium to its fruiting conditions as soon as possible. so that it can be "accustomed" to them and fruit as well as it can with what it has got. I hope this makes sense

That seems to be today's hot topic
Thanks for the advice - you are a blessing on this board. I doubled up the micro but I'll prob just seal them with some silicone when I get around to it
I gave the contam to my cat to play with...but then again the cat just shat on the sofa so it didn't turn out great

You know what...I'm not gonna lie (anymore) I'm going to admit - I lied. It's my friends cat. He's at the festival and I'm here with a broken (it's not actually broken) neck. I'm eating shrooms I'm meant to be doing at the festival with my friends and my friend's cat shits on the fucking sofa (couch or whatever).
Right now I wish I had a little wiener doggy to sit and be nice with me

Your compassion is heart warming
Unfortunately I also seem to have mistakenly tucked into other festival commodities and as such must sign out of this thread and general internet environ and meet with the real world. Dogless.

UPDATE - I am a bit concerned with the RH of the mono. No condensation anywhere what soever when I returned from festival yesterday. 3 x 1 1/4" holes at top of substrate level on long sides of tub very tightly packed and 2 x 1 1/4" holes on each short side of tub loosely packed.
Due to the above I have covered one hole on each side (so 2 on each length with one on each width). I also opened her up and gave her a quick mist and fan. There is one pin atm - weird looking thing it almost looks like it's based is right down in the substrate if that makes sense.
The tub is prob fine and it's just me worrying...the top of the substrate has that "dewy" water droplet look (before the misting as well as after)
Any thoughts?

I think you're impatient, it looks fine to me. I even see a pin
The no condensation on the walls thing, don't sweat it until you see how your first flush goes.

Cool I won't sweat it then (just like the mono itself - god what an awful joke )
Thanks for feedback

Well I am glad you got to go. If your walls are drying out you could always try to decrease your fae slightly but in my limited experience monotubs seems to really enjoy a lot of fae. It seems much more important than high humidity to me

True.
You can mist to compensate for slightly low RH.
Hard to make up for lack of FAE though.
Hey skinty, do an experiment for me: mist the walls heavily, so there is water dripping down all sides.
Take a pic in 24 hours and show me how the walls look.
