    #18853552 - 09/17/13 01:29 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Just wondering since its the first time ive tried using desiccant after fan drying and i cant seem to find any clear answers anywhere so, how dried do they need to be when you put them with the desiccant and also, how long do they need to go with it for. Thank you for any answers i get

You should fan dry the mushrooms for 24-48 hours before placing them in a desiccant chamber.

The desiccant is only used to get the last 10-15% of moisture out of the fruits.

They should be dry in 24-48 hours from that point, depending on the amount of desiccant and the thickness of the fruits.

Open air fan drying will only get ya about 80% dry depending on how big Your fruits are if you have a property constructed desiccant drying rig mine are usually all good after 24 hours if they bend and don't snap like crackers they ain't done yet search around here plenty of ideas to try

Hmmm thanks, well i dried em for over 24 hours, mostly with a fan and switched from the airing cuboard for about 6-8 hours then back to the fan, probebly about 30 hours altogether, the stems were starting to snap instead of bend when i put them with the desiccant, that sound about right?

These look dried enough for the desiccant?

Libs should be much easier to dry due to their size than cubes, if the stems are snapping instead of bending you can put them in desiccant.
