Straw substitutes for a manure substrate?

Long story short, I'm having trouble finding any straw/hay or vermiculite in my area and I need something to fluff up this 'Black Kow' composted cow manure as it is too dense on its own as a bulk substrate.
Could I pasteurize some dried-out, yellow grass clippings and mix it with the poo in place of straw? Isn't that basically what hay is anyways? What about something else, like pine needles, or anything really? Or would I be asking for contams?
This is for an indoor grow by the way.

Go to your local pet store ask where there's a feed depot 100% chance of finding hay where there's horse food

Every time I walk into an ACE HARDWARE they always have some vermiculite sitting on the shelves. Your best chance finding some is there because Home Depot, Lowes, and Walmart are always out! Good Luck

Hmm, Ace Hardware. I'll give them a call. Because yeah Wally World and Lowes were sold out; they said its the end of gardening season or something like that and they won't restock until next year.
About the feed store, well I went to one of those but they only sell bales of hay. I really don't want a bale of hay sitting in my yard, lol, know what I mean?
Appreciate the feedback guys... About the grass clippings - think it would work?

You don't have a single garden store in your area?
I have a bale of straw in my garage that I bought for $8 from one of my local garden centers.
