I put it on virtually everything, really good with eggs and potatoes in the morning, but I do like Cholula more.

Buy poblano peppers (chiles) Broil for 10-15 minutes, turning at least once to get them evenly blackened and blistered. Remove, peel off the skin (it'll come off easy after roasting) Dice up and keep it in the fridge, best within a week but you can freeze it longer The more seeds you leave in it, the hotter it will be.
And when you need a sauce vs diced chile, just open the jar and pour out some of the juice.
Red poblanos obviously will have more heat, while green has more pepper flavor. I prefer green!
Google to see pics of how roasted/blackened the chiles should be. And there you have it, a taste of (new) mexico.

I'm also a fan of siracha, but after using it as my only condiment for about a year in prison, I'm good on that shit.

It is! And good in many other ways. It makes your house smell so, so good. Reminds me of fall/autumn for whatever reason (harvest time )
You can find canned "diced green chile" or "whole green chile" in the hispanic food section too, but its SO much better fresh. And very cheap!

That's awesome that you love mediocre every day hot sauce! Not hating, but venture further for some real good shit! Don't settle for what your grocery store has, get online and search for the REAL good stuff. We have so many threads about hot sauce like tobasco chalupa and shit like that....sriracha is the shit tho! Home made salsa takes the cake!

So people should no longer be satisfied with the hot sauces that they like for the sake of being more hip?

No sir, but there are better things out there for them to discover, and people never really venture beyond their local wal-marts...just trying to help

The fact of the matter is... Tapatio is $.69 at your local hell-Mart. I'm not going to pay $10+ for a bottle of slightly better hot sauce.
There really are elitists at everything... Hot sauce is serious fuckin business guys!

You're missing the point that everything you're saying is your opinion. You think that mainstream brand is shitty, and thats cool, but other people have our own opinions too.
I put roasted, peeled, and diced chiles on sandwiches, pizza, in ground beef when I make burgers, etc. like I said earlier.
And you can go buy your sauces; why should he switch to what you like??

I admit I buy the cheap shit too, I buy Franks...but thats not what I'm going to go making threads about. I buy local made when i can and other things when I can. If I am proud of a hot sauce it's something special and not really something I buy at wally world. Why should we settle for anything less than the best? Why should we discuss it so much? Why does everyone get buthurt for my recommendations, I'm not shoving bottles up your asses...just saying

People tend to not appreciate when you down talk their preferences in favor of promoting your own. It makes you seem like a self-righteous douche.
I used to share your opinion about most things, beer in particular. Then I went to prison and I realized that sometimes life is about minimalism, not extravagance.
I can't believe a post about a bottle of hot sauce has spawned such an on depth conversation.

I agree, this place is full of people looking for an argument. I never once recommended a brand but I guess I did approach this the wrong way. Keep an open mind was what I meant to preach. Sriracha has always been a friend of mine with the shit I buy in my local walmart, but I am thankful for it either way. It's a true champion among hot sauces.
