What Mil Poly tubing to Buy

I'm starting to see how I can do growing Golden Oysters and Lion's Mane in bulk. So far I've been using up my old spawn bags, have 24 made. It looks like they're within three to five days of finishing colonization and I haven't been able to see any contaminated bags so far. If all goes well and I'm comfortable with whatever rates of contamination crop up, then I wanna step up to longer logs than spawn bags to maximize space in my basement.
So I'm thinking I'd like to hang them from my ceiling like I see in pictures, and would like to start with three to four foot logs and see how things go.With seven foot ceilings I could ultimately accommodate a five foot tall log (giving it a foot clearance on top and bottom). So what mil-strength should I use.
I was figuring on 14 inch poly bag for about a nine inch diameter, but aren't sure if I should step right up to a six mil thickness or go for the four (should there be some reason unknown to myself for getting a six mil thickness). Staples has a 14 inch, 900 ft, six mil roll for $158.99.
Any thoughts?

4 mil is totally fine. No reason to waste $ on buying 6 mil. Buy it from drake89, or check uline.com.
cheers.

that's where it came from, it's 18" lay flat diameter which means about 11.5" actual diameter.

I spent a long time researching, and found staples to be the best deal.
It's basically the same as Foxfire's, but free shipping.

IMPORTANT NOTE: if you are hanging very long tubes, longer than six feet, you might consider using 6 mil tubing. the weight of very long and heavy tubes can compromise the plastic if you are hanging them. otherwise, 4 mil is fine

 Nice!
drake, you also have a great point, u-line is super fast, and pretty affordable, if you are in the right areas. I got all my boxes and bags for the restaurants and farmers markets from them.

Five foot will be the max. Guess I'll go with the 4 mil.

hii,
you meant 4 mil poly tubing is good enough to make straw log, is it strong enough to be hang on one side the whole time?
i am planning to buy poly tubing of : 14inch (35.5cm ) flat, width makes 22.6 cm diameter i will be making straw log of 1.5 meter in length, and to be hang up the whole time.
what thickness should i use ? does 4 mil , which is 0.1mm strong enough that it won't tear or elongated when i hang it on one side the whole time ? is it enough for me to stuff straw in ?
by the way, what does 4 mil poly tubing means: does it meant 1 sheet is 4 mil thick
or when folded flat ( 2 sheet ) is 4mil *which ultimately meant the plastic is 2 mil thick ?
thank you andrew

hii, hanging 1.5meter (5 feet) long, 14inch flat width ( 22.6 cm diameter) log, using 4 mil or 6 mil ?
does 4 mil poly tubing means the single sheet material thickness is 0.1mm ?
i am a bit confused. truly andrew

3 mil is all you need. Also, i just started doing this and it saves lots of material. Crunch up your ends and use safety wire and tool to twist the ends shut. You can even incorporate a loop in it for hanging. That's how the nearest mega farm by me does oysters on straw. They used steel but i only had SS wire on hand.
