re colonize on dead mycelium?
    #18851195 - 09/16/13 08:48 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Would it be possible to re use contaminated jars by PC and re inoculate after cool down? wouldn't be worth saving the substrate but was wondering if mycelium would re colonize and if so would colonization speed be improved or decreased. as i understand mycelium convert available nutrient to what they need to thrive. after PC i would assume nutrient would be left by the original colony making it that much easier for new colonization....hopefully not contams...lol
Possible?

if the nutrition is used by your contam, then it has been metabolized and is no longer in the same form as before and thus may not have any value.

Substrate is cheap. Unless you are just wanting to experiment, just use new substrate.

Ya, I've got plenty of substrate laying around as is. thinking about trying this on my next contam. possibly adding nutrient and observing results(if any)

Who cares? I don't mean to be rude, but why would you risk using good material on bad?

This is simply dumb.

Because if you've grown even a single batch then spores are plentiful and the knowledge is well worth a couple tests. thanks for the major contribution though...
