does anyone know of any known cases (chicken of the woods question)

Does any one know of any instances (im looking for personal accounts more than anything) of people eating chicken of the woods that was growing on the wrong sort of tree AND they didnt get sick from it?
All of the guides and research point to chicken of the woods poisonings coming from specimens growing out of eucalyptus (which is where my specimen came from) or coniferous tree. Whatever properties those trees have cause the human body distress when consumed (vomiting, mud butt, and stomach cramps).
What im curious to is if there are cases when people ate those mushrooms from the wrong tree but were fine.
The language of the guides alludes to there being the possibility that one might not get sick from consumption of said mushrooms.
The specimens I collected are in such fine condition and just look so damn good I am highly considering cooking a small portion and seeing how my body reacts if it reacts at all.
What are your thoughts on this? Has it been done before? Have YOU done it before? Am i just an idiot with wishful thinking?

I have read that it has been done before, I think i sent you info on that... someone who suspected they had been eating them off of a dead hemlock, because all the trees around were mature hemlocks... but they were not able to make a positive ID on the tree... the person claimed to have returned to the same site and eaten them several seasons in a row without any bad effects... I am highly skeptical of this report, as hemlocks are conifers and I personally consider conifers a bad wood for chickys and many other edible mushrooms.. many digestive issues associated with edible mushrooms that grow directly off conifers.. my advice, don't risk it, just wait for better chickys...
I am starting a new rule of thumb: "Know your wood to know whats good!"

I saw a bunch growing on long dead cedars (50+ years dead), I would have grabbed and ate them, but they were a bit too mushy.
I'm sorry, but if you aren't willing to risk a little cramps and diarrhea to find out... Man up!
Take a few bites, wait 6 hours and if you're fine, proceed to eat some more.
This is how I eat every batch of mushrooms I find. Be sure to cook thoroughly as well.

I have, I used to become sick from Agaricus bisporus!
The cramps were not muscular for me, more of a very gassy feeling, a painful gassy for sure, but not unbearable. And the diarrhea was not that bad, I've had e. Coli and food poisoning before and they were much worse.
Also have had reactions to something I thought were liberty caps. But the only funny feeling I had at the time was in my bowels several hours later.
Cubensis usually don't make me vomits but they do give me the shits... Which is almost unbearable due to the patterns on my bathroom floor and walls.
I'd compare it to food poisoning if I had to choose something to compare it to.
Also, I've heard of marathon diarrhea sessions from misidentified poisonous mushrooms, which I have had limited experience with, that last a whole day, but I think that'spretty rare, aand just the fact that these are an edible (although some books list them as edible but highly discouraged) I don't think a negative reaction would be very extreme.

But not everyone has the same body, I just caution it to anyone considering... me personally, I pass on it... i have heard reports on both sides of the fence in regards to conifers... Id rather just wait for an oak stand, something more reliable with less of a risk factor... but even off an oak back east, some people have mushroom sensitivities and should stay aware of that always being a possibility.. speshully with a new mushroom.
