That's a stupid question. It's Sheekle's cat ya know... but maybe they have an open relationship.

my small dog used to always run in the room during sex (back when sex was a thing) and lick my womans asshole.
I'm sure it was extra awkward for her

Your cat might be sick. S/he might have a urinary tract infection or something else might be wrong.
Before you start doing any kind of behavior modification stuff at least rule it out. Maybe a trip to the vet, or even grab the cat and put them near the litter box, and look at them. See if they start scratching or meowing or something. The cat might be trying to make you aware of a health issue.
Also, do you just have the one cat? Some cats don't like to share litter boxes.

Well I'm not a vet, but I've owned cats for years, and urinating/defecating outside the litter box is a very common way for cats to let their owner know that something is wrong.
A few links from a quick Google search... notice how medical problems are at the top of every list.

But that's not always the case. Sometimes there is something else wrong, and they're pooping in protest of something. Has anything changed recently? Did you buy a different brand of cat litter? Change their food? Was a baby born? Did you get another new pet? Did you move the litter box?
Finally, cats are not always logical--they're sorta like women in that way.
