Also casually indistinguishable from Parasola lactea.
Which has smaller spores and is found in Cali.

This was actually my first guess - I think macroscopically they are a better fit. But P. lactea is one of the few inky caps that does not deliquesce, and the OP's photos seem to show some signs of deliquescing.

Exactly... and an important thing to remember. Thanks for bringing that up paracelsus. All of these Coprinopsis/Coprinus/Coprinellus/Parasola/ species are a mess. Hence the reason for me saying "something like Parasola plicatilis". You really need a scope to study mushrooms in these families.
