NHL 2013-14 Season
    #18849609 - 09/16/13 03:12 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it. About two weeks away from Hawks-Caps. Banner raising time!

Who do you got this year? I called St. Louis to win the cup last year. That worked out well. I'm going full on homer and picking the Hawks to repeat. I honestly don't see anyone from the west challenging them, perhaps Vancouver can pull something with Torts up there now, but I don't see it. Maybe LA. They've got a short summer, but can coast with a terrible division of the Avs, Stars, Jets, Wild, Preds. That is a lot of suck. St. Louis is the only real threat in there, and they can't take out the Hawks in a playoff series. Should be a relatively easy run to the WCF, at least.

Drop the puck, let's go!

Hard to repeat but I'm definitely going with Chicago.

Had to listen to people on the internet go on all last season about the superiority of the East. They won one Cup in four years. I will agree that the Eastern Conference has more overall talent but at the end nothing matters except the top teams.

Fans from the East totally underestimated the depth of the Blackhawks. Jonathon Toews got his ass kicked physically in the playoffs, and what difference did it make. The Best team won.

I remember one guy saying that Hockey is a regional sport (I agree), but he said the only cities that really follow Hockey were Canadian, the U.S. Northeast, and Detroit. I think this may be the general opinion over there. Well, Chicago has lead the League in attendance for five years.

Still, I would rather play against the teams in the East. All that tradition. Can't work up much good rivalry with much of the West except St. Louis, L.A. and Vancouver. San Jose plays well, then they always seem to fold up.
Edmonton was respected, feared and hated in the 80's but that's ancient history now. Vancouver is the only team we really hate, and that's what hockey is all about. I miss Detroit already. Damn the NHL for moving them.

Yea when the Avs had their run I got into them, because the Blackhawks sucked and their owner was ruining the team.
I jumped on the Colorado bandwagon as soon as they got Patrick Roy from Montreal. I even bought a hat. People around here didn't know what it was. They thought I was an Angels fan.

Not to be a homer but I gotta go with the Pens they pretty much have the same roster an a ton of talent at Wilkes Barre. Disco is a good coach and an x player so he knows the mistakes they made last year peaking too soon I see them making it at least past the second round. Wings and Hawks are always in the running. In the east Carolina looks good too. Rangers and Isles should be tough. If the Pens beat the Rangers at home in their first match up in NY that will set the season  for them. I think Boston shot their wad last year but they are always gonna be tough. I call them to be out first round.

I am actually more excited to watch hockey his year than I have been in a long time.  With Sakic at GM and Roy as head coach, on top of this young talented team, the Av's are gonna be interesting to watch.

And how about Roy getting fired up at the end of that game?  Love the emotion and care for his players, but I think he could have used a little more self control.  On the sports radio station here, Roy is on for 30 minutes every Thursday, and I was listening yesterday and he said he was surprised when the glass toppled over when he pushed it.  He looked pretty beast when he did, though.

I thought it was perfect. I actually stopped watching hockey when Bertuzzi almost killed Moore by driving his head into the ice. Just was sickening to me and turned me off. Then they started smorking the blobbigans anyway, but I feel an interest returning.

Check out this filthy bastard

Tomas Hertl  #48 San Jose 19yrs old

4 goal Game, Goal 4 was nasty :dizope:

Hearing a question to Marleau about Hertl and whether he was showboating, Thornton said: “Shut up, have you ever played the game?”

When the press turned his way, he then added: “I’d have my cock out if I scored four goals. I’d have my cock out, stroking it.”

At least we seem to have goaltending for the moment, that's different. It's going to be a long year for the Flyers though

Lol, it seemed as if he really didn't plan on doing that and last second he thought of doing it.

but anyways, its not that great of a goal imo.  malik did it first on the rangers. secondly other people have done it in the nhl. thirdly, the dopest goal is a between the legs 360 michigan, i used to do these during practice. its really not that hard, its just in a game your hockey tape can get full of ice and become a ton less grippy.

anyone else suprised ovechkin is scoring goals again?  its crazy how changing sides can rebirth a player, along with a coaching change and a few talks about fixing ovi's mentality from the coach. regardless, im rooting for him.

Im hoping Lundqvist can keep his head up because his team sucks and has been overrated for awhile. i used to like the rangers, in general it went downhill after they shunned sean avery.. dude was not given credit for what he did to the teams spirit and for the fans. he was also a great 2nd or third liner, who wasn't played the way he should of been, excellent speed and drive. but hey, sometimes politics rule the game (fuckin torts) they ended up replacing him with a pile of garbage.

Im also hoping Sidney Crosby continues to do good. its incredible how much injuries he has had, time off while everyone keeps practicing, to come back and then be right on top again with either points/goals/assist or all or two of these is beyond me. Dudes just on another level entirely and it shows.

with that said, i think the Penguins are the real powerhouse every year to watch out for, and this year is no different.
