Fact of the Fifth Day:
The Death of Attila the Hun
Attila the Hun is know throughout history for his great campaign he waged against the Eastern half of the Roman Empire. Known as "the scourge of God" Attila and his legions of men besieged was to vast areas of land in both Asia and Europe. That is until his life took an unexpected turn.
One night, Attila and his men were celebrating after they had finally managed to beat off all of the various Germanic tribes North of the Western Roman Empire. From there he planned on continuing his assault on Rome. But as I was saying, they were celebrating and partying and what not. Apparently they got REALLY drunk, so much so that when good old Attila randomly came down with a nose bleed during the night as he slept, his blood was so thin from the alcohol that he bleed out.
I couldn't imagine how horrified the girl was that woke up next to him covered head to toe in his blood. Naturally they though it was her so they but her to death.
So ya guy, word of advice, don't drink so much you bleed out from a nose bleed.

I like the Previous Facts idea. Good way to keep it organized and then you only have to add one a day to it so it's not much hassle.

Any particular area of history you're interested in teaching?

@vinsue I was planning on doing lesser know historical facts, but as time goes on and topics run out I'm sure Vlad will get his spot light. But that's too cool that you got to go there, I would just LOVE to take a history trip to Europe.
@Mr. Probably Highschool because I am very opposed to college. But who knows I'm sure professors have a lot more leniency. But my two favorite time periods to study are the Middle Ages and the Victorian Era.

The Fact of Day 6:
The London Bridge.
With this one here, I'm going to need to start off with a little bit of back ground information. London Bridge was first built by the Romans, but when the Empire fell, do did the bridge. It was later rebuilt during the Early Middle Ages only to be destroyed then rebuild time and time again. One time it was even destroyed by a tornado. Finally Henry II commissioned for a stone bridge to be built but with a chapel at the center of the bridge. All along the bridge other building were built, two of which were bars, leading to many drunken patrons of the bar falling off the bridge on the way home at night. Because with how much room the buildings took up, barely any room was left over for a person to actually use the bridge.

The Bridge again fell during the Great Fire of London, and quite a few times more bringing about that old, "London bridge is falling down" song.
It was once again rebuilt in the 19th Century with more modern building techniques, but that's not to say it was without its fair share of issues.

When most people think of London bridge, they are not thinking of London Bridge at all, they are in fact thinking of the Tower Bridge.

In 1967 the City of London decided enough was enough with this stupid bridge, so they decided to sell it. They sent out auction invitations to various peoples they believed might want to buy the bridge, but no one responded. Well no one except Robert P McCulloch, an American oil tycoon. Believing to be buying the much more impressive tower bridge, McCulloch bid $2,460,000 on the bridge, more then twice the estimated cost of the structure. Not only that but the bridge was too heavy too go through the Panama Canal, so he ended up having to pay another million shipping it around the bottom of South America.
The Bridge was assembled on Lake Havasu Arizona where it sits today, leading to a gift shop.

Funny thing is, being a busy man McCulloch couldn't make it to Arizona until the unveiling, and it wasn't until then that he realized he just payed out the ass for the wrong bridge. As to be expeced he let lose a long string of profanity upon realizing what he had done.
The misfortunes of others.

Yeah that's gotta burn, pretty generic looking in comparison to the Tower bridge. Is that where the jokes about having a bridge for sale come from?

It's something you say to someone who you think is gullible, like "if you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you." Similar to what people say about land in Florida.

So the bridge in Arizona now.. Was that the actual London Bridge? and the tower bridge is just what he thought he was getting?
