I was walking home and I saw a cat outside sitting 2 feet away from a pidgeon. I thought it looked wierd. I pet the cat and I get closer to the pigeon, he's alive. So I figure he must have a broken wing or something, but no. So I picked it up and brought it in my backyard. Clearly theres something wrong with it but I don't know what.
It's going to rainso I covered in with big leaves and I put him where it would rain less.
Worse comes to worse I got a dead pigeon in my yard tomorrow lol.

The pigeon is like king arthur. By tommorow he's body will already be lying on the wood. All you need to do is light it and say a prayer. Then eat it though...

I have nursed many birds back to health then let them go, twice with pigeons. They are actually really pretty birds, idk why people have so much stigma against them.

City pigeons are probably pretty gross from eating garbage all the time though.

I think you eat them before they start flying because the meat's much more tender

I was in the car with my cousin driving back from a cottage in Quebec and we were just entering Ontario and we hit a cloud of pigeons.
Not shitting you... they were flying low and there was a least 2 dozen of them. I don't know how many we killed but it was a lot.

Usually when birds are like that they are carrying some sort of disease and probably dying.
Any bird's instincts would of told it to fly away or avoid being carried off.
You could get meningitis, E coli, or salmonella from birds possibly carrying diseases.

i've had a few injured pigeons fully recover after a few weeks or so. Feed it wild bird seeds give water and leave the rest up to nature. I'd get him off the ground though if ya really want it to survive. Another cat or raccoon will be having a free meal tonight.
Really though, pigeons are actually intelligent birds. they have a bad reputation of being dirty city dwellers and over populated.

Don't eat it if it dies, you don't know what it's died of. If it survives then kill it and eat it, chances are it's ok.

This reminds me of the other night. I go outside and see one of our cats is killing/playing with a mouse, I scare the cat away and the mouse is just sitting there but I can see its lungs moving. So I made a little cardboard house for him, just put it on top and hoped hed be okay. Check it the next morning, box didn't move but the mouse was gone. Which means the cat didn't get him.

Yeah are we talking like jerky tough or is it more like a beef vs veal thing where people want ultra tender meat as a delicacy? I've never had pigeon but I was imagining it being something like grouse.

Yeah, I washed my hands with alcohol, and when I got home I put on some gloves to examine what could be wrong with it. He had shit stuck in his feathers so I washed some of it off. I gave it a little water.
It's windy outside and cold as fuck, I don't know what to cover him with so he doesn't freeze. I also took a piece of bread and ripped it a few bite size pieces for him.
WHat I should do is bring him inside so I could properly wash his feathers, he clearly has some sort of diarhea going on. But I don't think bringing that pigeon in my house is a good idea

On several occasions. Never by choice, merely because it was the only meat available at the time.

I can see someone doing that if they found the bird dead on the road.. But you had a connection with it.. you brought it home, wiped its ass, fed it... then you throw him in the trash!?
