surely I'd never say something like that unless I knew for sure, and not joust..
I don't need to elaborate any further. It's sad to me is all.

You replied to Joust, if you were talking about someone else you should have set the reply to field properly.

I didnt even notice that thing was there until someone pointed out I had it set to the wrong guy in 2012
Dont think I have ever once manually changed it.
It defaults to the last post which I think is a bad Idea, The OP would make much more sense.

I bought all of your chants and they were cooked and consumed in the city of Portland. I hope ! They were fresh and very loved.

I saw these today in Redwood City

And these in Sunnyvale
The deeply cracked cap is common in P. allenii, but very rare in P. cyanescens

Hey guys, I'm new to these forums but I've been getting information from shroomery for a while. It was just drizzling in san jose and there's rain in the forecast for this week so I'm planning to look for actives around here in the near future, unless you guys think that's a waste of time? Their discovery in redwood city and sunnyvale seems like good motivation for me to look.

Yes, the actives are out in the bay area - both P. cyanescens and P. allenii, and probably P. ovoideocystidiata too. Not a lot of them, with current conditions it will take approx. 1000 hours of looking to find each new spot.
When the season is good, it will take about 3 hours of looking in the correct habitat for each new spot.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't go out. It just means that you should go out more. A lot more.
While you are out there, take a close look at every mushroom you can see. Study it from all angles and take good photographs and upload them to mushroomobserver.org. Then create a new thread in the hunting forum and link your photos from the MO observation.
Dry them and save them in ziplock bags and label them with the MO observation number.

You don't have to eat all of them - even very small herbarium collections are valuable.
If it isn't going to be a type collection, you can eat everything but a few gills and still have a useful scientific collection. Microscopy and DNA analysis take very little material.

Yea, but who wants to work on a collection that consists of a few gills, cap fragments & a piece of the stem surface when there are dozens of much better collections to also scope?
