I had no clue what I was looking at at first. "Aww, some cute LBMs. Not going to be as cool as that big tasty Suillus someone just found, but we're here to learn about all fungi, so I'll check them out anyway. [Sits down to look closer.] Hmmmmmmmmmm, wait a minute."

The first times are always the most memorable. And if being the only one to find psilocybes in a group of over a hundred people looking for psilocybes doesn't make you feel special I don't know what will. You're a lucky duck.

Most of that area isn't irrigated. Maybe later...

And yep, I am incredibly lucky! But I feel weird being smug on an online forum so I'm saving that for people I know in meatspace.

I also found my first patch of cyanescens a few days ago, growing in grass near GGP. I assume there was woody substrate.

The Golden Gate Park Specimens

Allen pointed out on my FB post that this appears to be both variations P cyanescens and P cyanescens allenii
It was another very small patch of maybe 7 fruits, all within 2' of each other.
We took the older faded 5 fruits for the fair and left a couple to sporulate new generations
Odd they were growing in grass as well, 4-5 feet from any woodchips.
They were a hundred yards from the Fair Building & a bazillion hungry cyan hunters :laugh2:

lol. my MSSF buddy went around the corner from the fair building and came back with satchels full of mushrooms. he even found the biggest honey mushroom I have ever seen.  The identifiers would astounded. it must have been several pounds, and not a cluster, just one single giant ass mushroom.

Yea I saw that one too, it's the largest I have ever seen also.  Douglas Smith was saying that sometimes mushrooms that usually fruit in clusters sometimes just make one big one instead.  He has seen it happen with Lyophyllum also.

I only took photos of the mushrooms at the fair, if anyone got any pics of the people or the psychoactive mushrooms table, please post them here.

Here is a pic of the SF Psychedelic Society foray which I lead on Saturday.

Estimates of how many people attended range from 100 to 197, my guess is about 150 people total.  Lots of people came late and lots left early, keeping the crowd size at about 100.

I am the guy in the middle.

Haha, not my face, I'm in that blue hoodie in front. :-)

Oh no, sorry about that!

We have a rule at the SF psychedelic society that you should ask peoples permission before taking photos, but usually some people take pics anyway and they leak out.  This one was all over facebook anyway so I thought I would post it here.

Next time I might ask anyone who does not want to be photographed to step aside for a group photo, or maybe ask the photographers to yell out ten seconds before they take a pic so anyone who does not want to be in it can run out of the frame.  But maybe it's not all that big of a deal.  I do notice that an awful lot of people are wearing sunglasses, perhaps they don't want to be recognized.
