Whereas Cyans would retain a more Intact margin and exhibit more waviness?

exactly. for whatever reason i dont think i have seen any cyanescens displaying that splitting feature and yes upon full maturity cyans have a beatiful undulating margin which there allenii cousins remain convex for the most part

Hello!
I'm new to the site and I'm pretty excited to have finally joined. I've known about the forums for a while and first ran across it while doing some identifying of my own while hunting gourmet wild mushrooms. I'd describe myself as a less-wet-behind-the-ears newbie but very eager to learn more and I really enjoy tromping around the forest smelling that damp earthy aroma. I'm also just started growing some oysters in the closet with the help of some of the info I've found here. I'm looking forward going to the MSSF fair on Sunday even though it's in SF and not Oakland this year. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
Also in case anyone was interested I just saw a rather amusing video on VICE about an Iceland fashion week fiasco and hunting for mushrooms. I thought it was weird he smoked an Amanita muscaria...

That's what I thought at first, but the oldest one is definitely getting a bit wavy on the edges. Alan Rockefeller was there and told me they're P. cyanescens, and I figure I'll believe him.

No they are cyanescens, the stem and caps were thin and the older one was getting wavy.
The foray with the sf psychedelic society was cool, over a hundred people showed up. http://mushroomobserver.org/154356
At the mssf fungus fair today in Golden Gate Park I will be running the psychoactive mushrooms table. We have 4 tables this year so please bring lots of mushrooms and mushroom stuff to fill them.

We found some cyans in GGP and dropped them off for the display. Also we found a baby Porcini literally right in front of the building under those pine trees. We thought it was a puffball or something or we wouldn't have even picked it.

That was crazy to find two much sought after mushrooms in GGP. That king bolete was the surprise of the day.
