Growing in an Apt?
    #18844887 - 09/15/13 02:54 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Would you ever grow in an Apt??

In my town there are a few Apts.

I was thinking about moving into one of them, but i'm not sure if its a good idea to grow there.

My old pot dealer from high school lived in these apartments and right when you walk in his front room had all types of paraphernalia such as jars full of hemp, bongs, scale, and it always wreaked of pot in his room.

Does the fact that he didn't ever get caught mean its safe for me to grow mushies in these appts?

Ive grown in an apt for years.

Just cause someone else didnt gt caught doesnt mean your safe.  Make sure of your safety and dont tell a soul about your grow and you will b safer than alot of people.  Loose lips sink ships

That depends on your landlord and neighbors. If you've got the kind of landlord you never see, then it's cool. If he wants to come in and bullshit once a month when he collects rent or does inspections for whatever reason, then evaluate that carefully.

Also keep in mind your neighbors seeing you bringing supplies in and out, and being able to hear/smell (while cooking grain) your operation.

you can get away with anything you want aslong as you are discreet about it.

you should be fine. id just change the locks on your bedroom door to something you bought with a key incase maintenance guys come thru when your not home.

Awful advice. Usually, changing locks will be against your lease. They WILL get a locksmith in there to open any locked door that they need to.

Just judge the landlord. If you can't do it, you just can't do it. Not worth it when there's a high chance of getting caught.

I still say this kid is a Leo fishing here.

His latest posts are "how many tubs have you done?"
And "can you grow shrooms in an apt, can you get caught?"

And just so I'm not completely trolling here, yes, grow shrooms in an apt. The actual key lock on an interior door is a good idea in case maintenance comes through and happens to be nosy. Unless they have a direct need to get in that room, they won't bother.

Changing locks is usually against the lease, but I do it with every bedroom door in any house I've rented before.  I just explain that I have had every single possession of mine stolen from me, twice, before I did so.

I think changing the locks would draw a lot of suspicion to myself,

And I would bring in all materials like a 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. when nobody's awake as quietly as possible.

I just wanna get out of this house already.

Do you have loud parties or get cpos called on you regularly for being loud or otherwise conspicuous? If you have have a tendency to be visited by the "authorities" a lot, I wouldn't do it.

When it comes to privacy outside of the scope of the five-oh, unless you're an ignorant asshole, it's pretty hard to get searched or have someone accidentally figure out you're doing something like that. They can't enter your apartment without a 24h notice even for maintenance, so apartment management shouldn't be an issue ever. Cops can't search your place unless you let them in and they see something or they have a warrant, which you shouldn't be cultivating with one in the first place.

If you have a lot of company, it's only an issue if you can't conceal it in a closet or a room. The other thing to consider is how much noise your setup makes, likely not enough to attract any undue attention, and how much light it produces, which shouldn't an issue either.

This is a rather easy to conceal hobby because a lot of the necessities are also used for everyday household things such as plumbing, cooking, gardening, and household maintenance, and there's almost never any smell to worry about.

There's plenty of smell when you're cooking grain. And pressure cookers are very loud. That high-pitched rattle will travel farther than you think.

Jeez don't change the locks on the apartment itself crunch, just on the room you use to cultivate. Buy a doorknob at homedepot, a Phillips head screwdriver, and you're all set.
And most pressure cookers I own are relatively silent, save for a small hiss now and then.

The grain smell is less suspicious than someone smoking reefer in their living room and plenty of people in apts do that.

the best way to be incognito is to not get greedy and/or stupid. Keep your operation simple and private.

A neighbor I had asked me one time what I was cooking. I happen to be PCing some rye and stepped out to take the garbage and she was coming out at the same time. I said I was trying to make some homebrew.

I asked if the smell bothered her and she said she only noticed because she saw my PC on the stove when I opened the door. She never smelled or heard anything.

As far as I know, there are no tell-tale signs of mushroom cultivation if you are making an honest attempt at secrecy.

It is not hard to be stealth if you keep your scale small. I can't think of any sounds, sights, or smells that would draw attention on its own unless you were constantly growing a lot.

I have a lock on my interior grow room door. My scale is small enough to easily hide/conceal. The lock on my grow room is primarily for when I have guests. The landlord is required to give 24 hour notice except in an emergency.

If you have a sketchy landlord or want to grow big, you might be better off moving somewhere else.

One day, I would like to grow commercially, but for now, I realize where I live and scale accordingly in an apartment.

The only actives that are being grown here are actively delicious. Would you care for an oddly conical 100% tobacco cigarette my friend?
