Active, no such luck
    #18844317 - 09/15/13 12:08 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

I have very few active shrooms in my area, but I thought I found my first yesterday, until I got home and looked up big laughing gym. To my dismay blg have gills not pores, that being said I have done very little study on boletes or big laughing gyms, which I think I have boletus bi colored, def. not an active. But in the field I was full of excitement when I picked one and it almost instantly bruised bluish green, oh well maybe someday here's a pic. I included the single old one just so you could see the stem, the cap laying on the log was almost disintegrated. After doing a little more study on the bolete family I would have to have a trusted cultivator check these out b4 eating, some are poisonus, like the ones that bruise quickly like this one did, this is why there are no old , bold mushroom hunters. Great hobbie but you really got to watch yourself as to not misidentify all it takes is once! So if you are not 100% sure either leave them alone or take a couple to your local conservation office, as I have done a few times and they were of great help, like the trusted cultivators, only if you actually go see someone they can touch, smell and really examine in person. No disrespect trusted cultivators u guys know what I mean(I hope).

It was my first time running into them, I had never found a mushroom that bruised like that, like I said though very few actives in this area, including this one, but it sure the fuck was an excitement when I seen that bruising blue green like that.
