I'm moving out... Nah
    #18842262 - 09/14/13 08:01 PM (10 years, 5 months ago)

Any tips?

I figure I can spend two weeks paycheck on rent without overtime.

I'm moving out and I only have two months at least and NO MONEY, NO CAR.

Basically my friend is moving out of his house, because he's gets into it with his family. I don't see why he can't live there, but they are already asking him for rent money and they're playing with his emotions, selling property or throwing stuff out when they don't need to, because they think he's still 18 and he owes them or something(which he never has tbh). I would hope that he could live there til february because then I could save up lots of money, but he's my ride to work so I'm just going to say fuck it and tell my parents once I get used to things now that I got a job. I really have not wanted to live at home, because a lot of my energy is wasted at home dealing with emotions. Don't get me wrong I hate HATE working shitty jobs, but I hate being on clock work and having to live with five other people for sure! I can't even be in the same room as some people with out getting nervous or feeling unstable. And they're the same way...

So does he need a good credit history?

Is there a way to establish a good credit history in a couple months?

I need internet. I don't care for cell phone, but could I have both with out a land line or something?

I figure we split rent and internet.

I pay for insurance and my own food.

How much does food/gas cost per month with out wasteful driving?

It'd probably be cheaper for my parents if I moved out

A good credit history will help, but at a young age it's nigh impossible to have one. You have to start building it now, unfortunately. This won't stop you from getting a place to live or anything like that, but be prepared for hefty deposits for where you live, internet, utilities, etc.

To establish good credit over time, make your payments on time, get one credit card when you can, pay any loans, and avoid having any debts in collections. Just like building good credit, completely ruining your credit is a slow process unless you have staggering amounts of debt to your name.

As far as internet, you'll be able to get that without having a landline or cable, though most companies will try to offer you bundles for cable/tv/internet.  Usually companies that offer both cellular and internet service do so through different departments, though I believe AT&T was offering, at one point, a discount for their cellular service if you had internet through them.

For myself and wife, when money was tight we could have enough groceries for the month on around two hundred bucks. Most places I live have some sort of discount or bargain grocery store, and coupons are a fucking lifesaver too. Check newspapers and catalogues for them. You will be shocked at how much those things can save you.

As for gas, I don't really know what your commute is like or what kind of vehicle you'd be looking at getting, so there's a pretty big variable there. I spend a few hundred a month depending on how much travel I need to do, and both of my vehicles get shitty mileage. You can absolutely cut that down to a much more reasonable figure depending on how far you drive to work and what you drive (and how you drive it).

Get a plan, and how much money you need. Add another 50%. Shit happens fast and money can go like water.

Learn what you need to buy in bulk, and learn what you can get at a dollar store.

Try to never go over 1/2 your income in rent and bills. Need to save for a buffer and have money to do things too.

Two months is a short deadline. Figure out how you are going to move your shit now.

Try to find someone looking for a room mate. Always better without your name on the lease.

Nice, very nice sVs. I didn't expect that kind of reply right away, but you came through.

The shroomery is my brainstorming department for life.

I'm can be a greedy bastard, but I'm pretty frugal acting to most people. I don't worry about spending money on petty shit. I worry about other peoples money more then my own. I'm often telling them why they shouldn't aim for unreasonable standards. My only bluff is living with person I am moving in with because of convenience and timing.

I am not  demanding to move out, I'm simply just going with the flow. He's the last person I want to rely on, but he's never held out on me in the past and we've known each other for 6 years. We aren't the same, but we can kind of compliment each other where we differ. He can do the talking and I iron out the kinks pretty much. The only reason I worry is his car could break down out of nowhere in the next 6 months and we'd be up shits creek even with all his knowledge of his model, that'd be some fucking shit for real. That would change everything.

If we moved out I guess we could find a person looking for two room mates. It's already been decided we want our own area's. However we do not like other people, especially people we don't chill with on the regular and I'm not sure our level headed friends want to move out now.

Eh.

Don't think I'm moving out now.

Probably just going to get a cell phone instead...

Everyone wants you to pay their expenses while they pay for fucking t.v!

That makes no sense, I am confused?

If you want independence from mommy and daddys house then its just easier to get your own cheap apartment. Dont be "materialistic"

I live in New York, the capitol of America, believe me it's a materialist shit hole. You have no worth here unless you make some XX amount of money or have some kind of connection. That's how I got my job in the first place..

You could find something upstate maybe, but for me an affordable apartment is waking up to someone in my bedroom everyday or living in a moldy basement surrounded by people of a different color.

I mean in all honesty, my parent's would buy me  a car out of the blue after saving up so and so much money rather then me moving into a house, losing all the money I saved up, having to go to overtime to afford food/gas, taken the chance if we fail I lose the chance to jump right back into college with out any paper work, etc.

You seem like a spoiled kid, no offense. You seem too attached to your parents and an above comfortable living style. You cant live with your parents forever, so move out and get yourself a shithole apartment like most of us probly did and once you excel more in your career/job you will eventually be able to get a nicer place

Yeah my credit is not awesome so my parents had to co-sign for my current place. I am very fortunate that they did :psychsplit:

Oh I see, youre staying with mommy and daddy because they need you. It has nothing to do with you being completely dependent of them
