Minimonotubs in SGFC?

Hey guys, I know for first grows, the PF tek is the most recommended but I have a fair amount of experience in cultivating non-psilocybe mushrooms so I thought I might try something slightly more ambitious. I want to attempt to do a bulk style grow but I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it in the design I imagined. I have in my head a bunch of small containers (most likely chinese food containers) inside a SGFC so then I can have the elements of the monotub/bulk style but I'm not entirely screwed if I get some contams as they're not all in one container. Would it work to have say 4-5 of these chinese food style containers per SGFC with two separate SGFC's?
Thanks in advance for the help, Peace

Yes having seperate containers in a SGFC will work just fine (just raise the trays above the perlite), Having them in seperate trays will not prevent one from contaminating the other though.

Okay, any suggestions for the best way to raise them from the perlite? Would sitting the lids underneath them be enough? And yeah but it may give me a chance to separate them if I catch it quick enough

i am doing same thing, mini mono in a sgfc that is working fine, I have two of them, here is a pic of one...

its one 1/2 pint brf with equal part 50/50. only took 3 days to get to this stage, and this pic is when I first put it in FC. out of 6 1/2 pints, I only did one cake (first one to fully colonize and consolidate) and the yield wasn't what I wanted. Seeing as I am unemployed at the moment and read this site like a religious fanatic, I decided to just try a mono on a small scale to see how it would work. Hopefully fruits come soon. I'm no expert tho

You guys are not doing "minimonos" in a sgfc. You are doing trays in a sgfc. A monotub is a labeled as such because it is a self contained unit. One tub that serves as the tray for the substrate and its own fruiting chamber. Just thought I would clear that up

thats true, my bad. still learning all the proper terms. Still unsure of what the term "bulk" mean also. when someone does a "bulk" grow, does that just mean that they are spawning to a substrate that is large? does it have to be cased to be "bulk"? is a mono tub considered a "bulk" grow? lemme know if u can or PM me if u think it will just distract from the topic of this thread.

"bulk" is a very broad term we use to describe growing mushrooms in a loose substrate such as coir or poo in a tray or tub or grow bag.
Most people don't case bulk substrate for cubes. Some people put colonized grains in a tray and case it with verm or peat moss but this is not an ideal method.
A casing layer is a non nutritious layer covering the substrate or grains.
A monotub is a "bulk grow"

sweet. thanks for clarifying without making me feel like a retard! My understanding is all coming together, slowly and surely from reading this site so much. I also stopped smoking so my short and long term memory are way better.

This is inaccurate.
Contams are not like catching a cold.
Spores landing on a fully colonized substrate will not germinate unless your conditions are inadequate.

Good point, but what about when it's been through 2 or 3 flushes and the mycelium is starting to weaken? This would still entail not getting enough FAE though too.

Sorry just to clarify, what is the best way to raise the trays above the perlite? And just the stock standard SGFC with no modifications will work fine?

You can use cups or jars to raise the trays. A standard sgfc works great for fruiting bulk trays

Thanks so much for all of the help guys, I really appreciate it and I'll make a grow log when I start growing to let you know how it goes
