hey there shroomheads
im in rehab and am in the process of getting my life and my health together. ive been clean for 6 months now and am on my way out the door of my residing treatment facility... with that being said, I am still struggling with some anxiety and some depression. things are definitely a lot better than they have ever been... and to some extent it's a process that I need to patiently wade through... although some alternative intervention seems like it could be beneficial. I currently take vitamin b3 and that really does help me with some of the anxiety and depression. although im willing to try something to use in conjunct with it. does anyone out there have any suggestion for vitamins or supplements that could aid in depression and anxiety.. specifically things that don't leave a person groggy or feeling like they are in a fog.
thanks

yeah im in an institution atm, so articulating the specifics of my diets is not currently an option. I know im not getting a lot of protein atm... but yeah physically im done detoxing... been 6 months of beer and mxe and almost 8 off heroin, weed, benzos and everything else. the paws might still be in effect though...
don't kava kava and valerian affect the gaba receptors? if so, that's a no no because im a recovering benzo addict... cant have anything in this category ever again. tryptophan ehh? ill research that, ty

Lemon shots.
Very powerful electrolytes, along with lots of vitamins. I juice 4 lemons before a workout, or before going out In the heat of the day.
Broccoli, kale, and spinach.
Learn to cook with them, and try to eat them every day. You can eat whatever you want, but make sure to get nutrient dense foods in your diet; it fuels your body.

I agree with the people saying that your diet is the most important. A great diet, lots of exercise, and a busy schedule will be the best 3 things for you when you get out of rehab. Together, these 3 things combat depression and anxiety better than any drug cocktail(in the long run.)
As for vitamins, I suggest your B complex(3, 6, 12,) and a magnesium supplement. Together, these will metabolize into tryptophan, which metabolizes into serotonin, which in turn metabolizes into melatonin!
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant and very good for you. We can't metabolize it ourselves like other animals can, so we need to either eat lots of food rich in vitamin C or take a supplement of it to get what we need of it.
One more for the road - Omega 3 - Omega 3 is needed for many metabolic processes and helps increase brain function. Hopefully the better your brain feels, the less anxiety and depression you will feel in return.
Congrats on all that clean time, Lipa. I know you've got it in you to stay sober when you get outta there. Good luck!

awesome, thank you both for the replies yeah im just taking b3 at the moment and that definitely does make a big difference by itself... yet I feel the need to expand a bit. I have heard that magnesium can be great for depression. im definitely going to look into that as well... forgot all about omega 3's, those are great! exercise is crucial I agree. I never really got too involved with that in my day... but lately I have been doing a routine with pushups and I notice a massive positive boost in my state of mind and my physical well being... I kind if fiend for working out now... but being in rehab kind of inhibits my options in regard to what type of workouts I can do... when I get out im going to get into a more involved and broader spectrum workout routine.
good call on the lemon shots.... im definitely going to try that when I get out.
thanks again guys
