Hello gourmet forum.. I have been out for a while but still darling in edibles.. Last summer I made these logs started around April cutting and usually within 2 weeks I was plugging the logs from the tree. From April to September I did 120ish . Just got my first nice flush the other day.. I didn't soak them but have had lots of rain. Mostly the top logs fruit so I'm thinking they got the most water.. So soon I will start soaking 5 a day ,and wait for the flush..they are all sweet gums I have lots of them and I'm about to clear some land and have a lot more to cut.. I have about 4000 plugs of shiitake one strain is believed to be f s and the other is 75 I received through trades.. Either way they did a nice flush and the stems were small ..I will be inoculating probley another 200 logs shiitake soon . I started some lions mane plugs and am hoping to have 1500 ready in a month or so.. Enjoy the pics

Yeah, if it was me I would rather have a dowel. Would survive the trip better I would think. Take his wedges, and I will take your dowels b/c I have wedges to give

I've got some nice colonized sawdust of Maitake in a jar. After reading all I could in GGMM, I still wonder what the hell to do with it down here-- I'm also in the South, SOUTHERN. I'm interested in trying to grow it too down here, and I'll give you some Maitake sawdust just to see how well it works for you. Oh, it came from a vendor here on the Shroomery boards.
Sorry everyone else, I'm only able to offer this once to SOUTHERN here. I don't have but a few jars of sawdust anyway.
Nice grow of shiitake logs too. I harvested a few off sweetgum logs myself last week. Those were my first shiitake on logs!
