Black residue on bags.
    #18839838 - 09/14/13 02:06 AM (10 years, 5 months ago)

I have a few rye berry spawn bags going and one of them has mysterious black residue on the surface of the bag in spots. It doesn't seem to be spreading or moving off the bag as far as I can tell, but it looks a lot like black mold so I'm concerned. I even massaged the bag at 20% and the mycelium seem to be colonizing fine still. The spots remain on the bag. I rubbed one a little with my fingers and I couldn't displace it at all. There's a little brown goo, but all the bags seem to have a little bit of that just from the moisture.

Here is a good spot by comparison:

What do you guys think?

So I had feared. Is it possible the rye berries were just burned slightly along the outside and left a black burn? It still doesn't appear to be spreading or affecting the mycelium.

I'm going to isolate the bag and see what it does.
