Guitar (instrument) sounds 10x better in the kitchen.
    #18841894 - 09/14/13 06:22 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Try it and report back. I think my classical guitar sounds better in the kitchen relative other places in my crappy apartment STOP I assume this applies to other sorts of guitars too or even other instruments such as but not limited to: violin, tromboner, flute, piano, bonefloot, knee-slappin', etc...

Try it on your instrument. Play it in the living room, then play it in the pooproom, then play it in the bedroom, etc... then report back

I think mine sounds better in the kitchen. I don't know why it just reverbs in such a way that makes it sounds better I think. I've never played guitar for anybody. I play it quietly with the pads of my fingers and I don't have friends so only I hear it unless the neighbors can hear it but I play it softly which is why I love those slippy nylon strings because I can play them softly.

I don't grow my fingernails because I work in am experimental science lab and I don't want no dang fingernails getting in the way when I'm trying to man handle some bolts and nuts.

So play it in the kitchen and tell me how it sounds. Oh and if you don't have an instrument just slap your kneees or play drums on the kitchen table top or something don't pretend like you've never done that, weirdo.

OP, Im pretty sure its just the acoustics of your kitchen.

Everyones house is different, but everyone has 1 room with better acoustics (mine is the guest bathroom)

I'm going to lay down in the middle of the street and play my guitar there to see if it might sounds better with the sound waves bouncing off the moon and the clouds.

Probably because you have a lot of hard, sound reflecting surfaces.

Interestingly though, I think it should sound worse.  Most places for recording, etc. are treated so they don't reflect sound.

Music sounds best while tripping in the woods.  I think psychedelics have the best acoustics.  :trippinballs:

It's amazing what a small room can do to an acoustic instrument. Years ago I was tinkering around on an unplugged electric guitar in a very small practice room in the basement of a music store and it was quite fun due to the sound being produced. On the flip side, playing my violin out in the forest seems to be more difficult (to get a good tone/sound) compared to playing in my room.

Generally I prefer large rooms like a living room with a decent amount of furniture, not crowded though. Small rooms suck without exception (12x12 is small).

Outdoors is great if there are no cars nearby, being out in nature. If there are cars nearby it sucks really bad.
