Re-Inoculation?
    #18841210 - 09/14/13 02:10 PM (10 years, 4 months ago)

How's it going?  This is my first post.

It's been about 10 days since I first inoculated my jars, and so far most (10/12) are going pretty smoothly.  There are two, however, that haven't grown any mycelium, and I'm wondering if no actual spores got injected when I inoculated, just the water.  I have an extra syringe, and I'm wondering if I should re-inoculate the jars.

My hesitation comes from (1) not wanting to contaminate, though it couldn't hurt to try because there's nothing growing anyway; (2) I don't know if the BRF mix is still moist enough; (3) I'm thinking about just taking the loss of two jars and saving the syringe for another batch of cakes.

Any information on the matter would be greatly appreciated.  Also, there are two or three jars that are only growing mycelium near one of the inoculation points, compared to three or all four of the inoculations points for the other jars.  Will it take substantially longer to colonize because of that, or will it be finished pretty close to the others?  I understand it all varies, but I'm looking for trends.  Been keeping them at maybe 75 degrees F.  Thank you in advance for bringing your good vibes to the table.

Just toss them.  There is no reason to waste spores and time.

:whathesaid:

Grow the mushrooms and take prints from them. Make your own top notch syringes with LOTS of spores.
