Humidifier question

I'm about to start my first mono as soon as the jars I have going colonize, and i am going to some second hand stores today to looks for a humidifier to keep in the room. I notice that whenever people have contraptions hooked up to their FC they say you need a cool wick humidifier. I'm just getting a humidifier to keep in the room, does it need to be a certain type or will any humidifier do?

Humidifiers for fruiting chambers should typically be COOL MIST, Not cool wick. Cool wick's work in such a way that you will never get above about 70% Humidity (RH).
However, if you are just using it in the room for ambient humidity, pretty much any type of humidifier will do as long as it has enough power. Just be sure it doesn't have one of those fungicide filters that kills spores.

I have one of those cool mist humidifiers which sort of throws a very fine fog up into the air. I'm trying to figure out how to attach it to my shotgun fruiting chamber but am running out of ideas on how it should be done. Does anyone have any recommendations? Sorry to hijack the thread...

The OP is talking about humidifying the room, not the fruiting chamber
Cb411, whatever humidifier you choose will work fine for the room.
Humidifiers made for larger rooms will provide more humidity.

Don't attach a humidifier to a shot gun fruiting chamber unless you want to make less mushrooms than you would have just doing the shot gun fruiting chamber the right way. Which is without extra bullshit.

Gotta agree here, Shotguns actually work quite well on their own. It's surprisingly a pain in the ass trying to automate fanning and misting. I tried and failed many times in my early days rigging up laughable systems to try to automate my shotguns.
