Hey Panaeolus experts, what's this?
    #18840406 - 09/14/13 08:59 AM (10 years, 4 months ago)

Grows on horse manure in a wooded area, 1000 m above sea level, northern Adriatic (Europe).
Looks like Panaeolus semiovatus, but no sign of annulus or remnants.
It isn't in my book, anyone has any idea?

Panaeolus semiovatus var. phalaenarum?

Quote:

Veil visible as dentate or appendiculate margin of the cap
(fugacious); spores elongated, in average reaching 20 (im
in lenght, little flattened (fig. 2 c); species of temperate
zones
.... Panaeolus semiovatus var. phalaenarum (2)

Quote:

Veil reduced to a dentate margin of the cap (fuga-
ceous); cap semiglobate to campanulate
....
Panaeolus semiovatus var. phalaenarum (2)

The first is from the Gerhardt's worldwide key, the second is from his European key.

That was quick! Awesome, thanks! :super:
Yeah, I was almost sure it had to be a semiovatus variant because it looked almost exactly the same otherwise, was very surprised when there was no veil on the specimen I picked.
